Makeup Artist (Overseas Prewed Shoot)

Hello.

Wish to check..those who did their wedding shoot out of Singapore with independent photojournalists, do you get one from Singapore or look for one when your are there?

I have a concern especially MUA from western countries. Not sure if asian faces are a challenge for them.. I'm considering local MUA with good & affordable overseas package deal, if theres is any... IF not, i will just go ahead looking for one when i'm there.

Anyone with contacts of MUA from overseas to share? (IF possible, share the cost too)
I'm thinking to check out Australia (either Melbourne or Perth) OR Paris OR London.

my sister had her wedding in melbourne where she is currently based at with her husband. the hair and makeup was disappointing. my mom and boyfriend put it very directly to us that we looked way older than we were and looked like we had very heavy makeup on. this is despite paying quite a bit for their services and they claim to have done asian faces before. in contrast, the singaporean local MUA did a great job, we looked young and fresh and our age. (22 and 27). but to be fair, the asian concept of what is nice and the non asian concept of what is beautiful can differ quite a bit. hence my advice would be:

1) is your independent photographer a singaporean and has prior working experience shooting overseas? if he is, then chances are he knows of somebody who can do the job to your satisfaction.

2) settle on the overseas photoshoot location, and pick up a bridal magazine from that country at our local bookstores, look through and see if there's a makeup artist that you would like to hire based on the photos that u see.
