my boyfriend wanted to open a joint acct, but i refused. i prefer to save individually. for those who opened a joint acct, do u and ur partner contribute equally to it, or whoever earns more put more kinda thing?
butterflykisses: i have a joint account with my partner, and we contribute equal amount of money every month to put into the account. this amount of money can be used for our wedding next time, so, actually is good. if you worry, maybe wait for awhile longer before you both can start one.![]()
I asked about the Joint Account with my Bf when we found our place. He didnt agree or disagree.
Later on when we went to bank for a loan for our house, they automatically open a joint account for us because we need to top up cash after CPF deduction. So I s.uan b.ian use it as joint account.
I think having a joint account for the essential is good because we each still get to decide how we want to spend out money that's in our own bank account.
Hi, my SO and i opened joint acc since 2008, mysavings acc too which they will deduct mthly from one of us (must be dbs/posb savings i think), its 50-50 so kinda fair. Anything happens we just need to divide equally.. A good start to trust ur couple. Also, there is option for withdrawal if both must present or either one will do. I guess i trust my SO so we chose "either one option". But interest rate had dropped from 1.5% to 0.4% now haha..
I have a joint mysavings account with my boyf of 1.5 yrs. It's 1:2 ratio. I think it's only fair cos girls shouldn't be putting the same amount esp since I haven't grad yet. I understand that not all guys think this way, so I'm glad my boyf came up with the idea actually. At least we can use the money to go on holiday without feeling a hole in the pocket and pay for renov next time.
