i dont think its neccessary but because GDL, guy side will bring cakes etc to the lady side. so the lady will normally distribute the cakes together with the cards to her relatives.

same for the guy. they bring the cakes together with the invitation to their relatives. so normally its after or ON day of GDL. normally ya so i dont think its like 'cannot'

i guess it depends on family... my current boss is a teochew but he went to pick up his wife around 9am previously and both of them are teochews too...

i think my future bro in law will be coming over to my house around 7.30 - 8am...

Yeah I was out at 5.30am and my hubby's brothers assembled at my new house at 4am in the morning.... amongst his group of friends I'm the earliest to get out of the house

On the other hand I think it depends on the timing too... whether its auspicious or not...

if i'm not wrong, i think teochew bride have to leave the hse before dawn, as to avoid those dirty things. In the olden days, funerals also sets off in the morning, so to avoid them, the bride got to leave the house earlier?? Can someone confirm?

i think its wrong. its to avoid 'white events' like what u've mentioned. Not 'dirty things'.
