Default Just got engaged last friday!

Yes..my bf of 1.5 yrs proposed last friday, and I was so moved..just wanna tell the whole world!

He asked me 2 weeks ago, shall we go to our favourite restaurant soon, before I leave Spore? I said yes of cos. On thursday, he said he's booked the restaurant on friday so wear nice n sexy ok. But thats normal, cos whenever we go there - My Humble House at the Esplanade, we always wear nice nice.

That night when we walked hand in hand towards the restaurant, before we even reach the queue, the waitress walked up to us and led us to our seat, without even asking for his name! He even cooked up a story that the waitress has such good initiative cos he's the only ang moh to reserve a table that day.

When we reached the table, my jaw dropped. The whole table top was filled with red rose petals and candles. The luxurious high sofa seat was such that we would be sitting facing the window and no other diners could see us. It is the best, most private seat in the restaurant! Still, I had no idea what he planned, cos he said, "wow! I'm impressed! All I did was asked for the best table, and the manager said he'll take care of everything. He did well!"

Then we looked at the menu, which was specifically printed n selected for us, personalised with the words 'Mr Hine & Partner' printed on it. We didnt need to choose anything! The food, service and ambience were excellent. Went thru dinner with lots fun n laughter n clowning around. At one stage Stu said to me, Baby, do I have something stuck in my teeth? I turned to him and there he was biting a rose petal, grinning at me. Throughout the dinner he went to the toilet 4 or 5 times. He also said this dinner is to thank me for the great time he had in Singapore... and I took it as that.

Dessert came on 2 large bowls with the dry ice smoky effect. Simply beautiful. I was just about to tuck into it when another bowl with the same dry ice effect came, and this time, the ring was perched on it. When I saw that, I started crying already.. then he said," I dun wan you to come to Australia as my girlfriend, I wan you to come as my wife. Please please will you marry me?" I said, "yes yes yes yes yes!"
Think I didnt stop crying for a long time after that.

Now to the unbelievable part - after wearing the ring (Tiffany ring! Classic setting, small but v beautiful) for an hour or so, still in the restaurant, I lost it. Yup, the ring dropped and we couldnt find it! Then I saw it stuck in the gap of the sofa. We were still sitting in the restaurant. Stu reached in for it, but pushed it into the sofa even more. Then we realised there was a hole inside the sofa, and the ring must have dropped INTO the sofa. Imagine 2 of us, plus 2 waiters, crawling on the floor of a posh restaurant and all over the sofa with torchlight, searching for the ring! Finally, the people had to cut the bottom of the sofa to get the ring out!!!

The whole thing from dinner to proposal to finding the dropped ring took 4 hours. After that Stu asked for some Scotch tape and taped my fingers together so the ring won't drop. The tape was stuck on for fingers for the next 3 days, until I got the ring size resized. (He insisted I told him my ring size was 6, but that's my shoe size!!!)

The whole thing was a surprise to me. I kinda had it in my mind that if he wanted to, he would propose at the airport or at his farewell party, in front of many friends. And also I would always squash any idea I had in my mind, for fear of being disappointed. I just wanted to enjoy the romantic dinner on Friday, didnt expect it to be the best dinner of my life! Now I really have no idea where to start planning, when and where to have the wedding..etc etc...but I just feel like the happiest and luckiest girl right now!!!!!!

You know those machine that you coin in $1 and you will get a ball with toy inside?(God, I know my english suck a big time ) He manage to 'psycho' a shop in china square, but later change venue to Suntec City, as the owner cant find the keys to the machine.

Sam insisted that her SO can't propose 'in the old way', e.g no kneeling down and putting the ring into food.

Her SO secretly brought a ring that she set her eyes on long ago and make effort to stick it inside the ball to not let it be 'visible'. In the papers, there is a picture showing he using a torch to ensure that the ball is in correct position. He hide the ring in a doraemon ball. Wait... Let me read again...

After Sam arrived her SO insisted that she must get the Doraemon toy for him. The 1st egg that popped out is normal, but the 2nd egg that there is some weird noise inside. And in front of all her colleague(Note: they are both working in an advertising agency) & her SO, Sam opened the egg and saw the ring that she dreamt for. Then the colleagues urged SO to present her with and proposed. Last week they even went to play the machine, so Sam didn't expect her SO to use this as a proposal method.

To cut the long story short, he made a lot of effort and asked all the friends to come. And the best part is they are 'big children' that loves collecting these kind of toys. So must be very unforgettable for them.

If I were her I will frame the article up and place it in the bedroom, instead of the wedding photo.

    Congrats turtle on your engagement!

Don't have to do anything yet! I was at a lost at what to do next and how to start planning and all after SO proposed in June. I've not done anything yet except called my church and checked if there's a date for us to get wed next year!

In the meantime, just bask in the glory of love and happiness!
