Gifts for friend's wedding overseas

dear all, need help..

Have a very close ex-colleague who is getting married to an italian 08/07/06 and we are all unable to fly over for the wedding. Planning to get something and shipping it over to her...

Thinking of bed linen or some 'non-fragile' items to buy online or from singapore.

Any suggestions from you all creative cotters???!~

Or just a card & then when she visits SG again bring her out for a meal & bring an ang pao if she decided to treat you - you can give her the ang pao.

Maybe a pair of wedding goblets/champagne flutes from Selangor Pewter.... Afterall, it would look good and asian at her wedding.

But pewters are not very practical gifts right? She's a rather practical lady who don't really fancy ornaments and stuffs..

oh i'm definitely late for her wedding (tomorrow!), so targetting to send it by end of the month.

If she is in Singapore, it will be great to give her a hamper filled with luxury bath items or toiletries eg from Crabtree & Evelyn. Even if she doesn't like the scent, she can keep it for her future home guests. But she is italy, definately something light and easy to send over. I would say sexy lingerie will be good for her AND her hubby!

I second the small and light items! Lingerie and sleepwear sounds great!

By all means, please avoid giving bedsheets and all ... first of all, it's rather heavy, 2ndly, you may get the size of her bed wrong and some countries have bigger sizes. My cousin is based in Germany and her bed is Super King size!

yeah, i realise after considering the weight of the bedsheets, it doesn't seems quite worth to spend a lot on the delivery. Speedpost's charges $70plus for a 3 kg item!

we're thinking about some necklace/bracelets stuffs this time but worried about it go missing. haha, still plucking my hair out over which one.. Shs'e just signed the paper on 8th...so happy for her, at the same time she told me she's quite sad that we big bunch of friends can't be there to share the moment with her.
