hi gals,
I just went for my 1st session of pre-marrital counselling organised by my church and I'm so glad that I have the opportunity to go through this. It helped SO and myself discover more about each other and find out things we never talked about or even thought of ! It's amazing!! It helps in managing my expectations of marriage, our roles, responsibilities, conflict management, handling finances etc ...
I would strongly encourage you gals and your partner to go through a Pre-marriage Counselling class, either at the following places as listed in eCitizen or your religious organisation if they have such programmes.![]()
hi babe
i was wondering how soon should a couple go for the session?
Hey Wendy, great sharing!my church friends also found their pre-marriage counselling very helpful.

They recommend as soon as you are thinking about getting married. Not to scare you but they said there are couples who broke up after going for the counselling because they find out that they have differences in expectation after marriage.Originally Posted by Alya

maybe it's better
rather than go through whole process then realise it's not suitable...eheheh
i seem to be going through a rough patch with my partner with regards to getting married.U girls have any good centres to recommend for marrriage preparation course, not the religious ones thou because we are both free thinkers..

maybe i'll go attend some too. But must really find time to go together. Our off days are different. Very difficult to coordinate.
Joycesy1 dear, click on my first post to find a list of the centres. There are some non-religious ones and you can chose based on the topics that interests you but they basically prepare you for what lies ahead after marriage or even during the preparation process.
Alya, advise you guys to go through when you're comfortable. Suggest this to your SO and see what he says. Some guys don't feel comfortable talking to a stranger and especially when they don't see anything wrong with the relationship. People has this mindset that you only go for counselling when something goes wrong you see.

thanks wendy![]()
think really want to speak with SO about it.
we have been quarrelling over small things lately.....
in fact, we always quarrel....it's amazing we are still together..hahah
quarrels are not necessarily bad in a relationship. It helps us to discover each other's likes and dislikes and work on our conflict management style. Hee, perhaps I'm just too positive about things! haha
But I've learnt through my session that SO and my conflict management style suits each other wonderfully and that's why we hardly keep long accounts of our quarrells or wrong doings.![]()
Can anyone advise how much would it costs per couple for attending such courses? I am rather interested in going for the course as i feel me and HTB can have conflicts rather easily..
Is it a good idea to go with my bf and another couple (my best friend and her HTB)?
Usually how many session and how much it costs?
TIA.
Sorry, I don't know the price of the courses, but I guess you can call the organisations that shazzerlyn has in her first post to enquire directly!
My church actually strongly encourages couples not to book a wedding venue or ROM date before going for the sessions because they want the couples to take the sessions seriously to evaluate whether or not they are prepared to get married, & that neither party is pressurised into marriage because wedding preparations have been made. Good idea to me!
Hi,
I had attended a 5 x 4hrs Marriage Preparation Workshop at REACH Family Service Centre last year. I paid about $200 for the workshop and I think it's worth every single cent. They have several offices in Singapore. The workshop was very helpful in setting "realistic" expectations on Marriage, and opening up my mind and heart towards my future husband, and set the
"right" objectives and wanting to make my marriage a happy and blissful one for many years ahead.![]()
Interested parties can go the following sites for more info:

Personally, I highly recommend couples getting married / may already ROM-ed to attend one of these Workshops together !!!![]()

Hey Wendy,
Have always wanted to attend. But we just couldn't find the time! We wanted to sign up last December but it was fully booked. I guess the only solution is to do the online one cos my wedding is less than 2 months from now. Panic!
