Default Minimum amount of $$ to get married...

Just some things that require lots of money before the marriage:
    1. housing
    2. renovation
    3. wedding.

For you, what's the comfortable level of savings that you think a couple should have, before they commit to a marriage? I've seen couples who got married very young, and had frequent quarrels over finances, before and after marriage...

Most of my friends marry without much saving at all..from house to wedding dinner to wedding photos..all by credit cards, cashline, bank loan etc....

so it is good to have a strong saving ...Dont overspend what you really cant afford..
If no money for those 4 or 5 star hotel ballroom wedding..then just go for chinese resturant or hold a smaller table or have small buffet!Dont think of losing face!!
If two people really love each other,he or she wont really mind any of these stuff!
me and my husband dont have those ,even no honeymood........
Think for longer term marry life!!

some friend who dont really have enough money to hold on hotel ballroom for wedding dinner..but the girl keep insist without thinking for long terms...end up..they broke up after marry for months cos of the money issue..........Seeing too many friends broke up...

Start with saving insurance or a small saving when young..

I'm looking at around 80K cash for housing + wedding + renovation. Planning to achieve it by end of the year. My friend's telling me that I actually do not need that much. Am wondering if it's true...

But I'm still looking around for flats/apts now. I'm looking at the Bukit Merah/Queenstown area, where prices are very high. So mum's actually telling me to take my time to look for the flat. She told me that I should consider staying in current flat first, and then plan for housing and save more...

Anyway, the Bukit Merah and Queenstown areas with new flats are not opened for sale yet... hmmm.

i agree with wennduku. The wedding ceremony and dinner is only a 1 day thing. But marriage is for life. So must work within your means. Else, will have alot of disputes with SO.

i think when u get married at different age, the amount u need really varies.
for me, at almost 26 next year when we get married, 50k is enough for everything
quite happy with the fact that we can save 50+K after working about 2-3 years

    wow alya. Impressive...
Me and SO manage to save this kind of money only after 8 years. Haha...
Guess we tend to overspend on food and short trips.

SO and I are 25 this yr... that's why we're not really in a hurry to get married. I just think that we need to sort out the finances issue and try to plan ahead.

getting marry is really an expensive thing..
so & i are also planning and saving now.. but i have to support my part-time studies too.. so poor so have to save for my part as well...

so after i graduate next year must save extra much.. & start to source for our dreamhouse already

    we budgeted the following
    house 250k
    renovation 20k

we intend to settle the house & rom first.. wedding dinner will postpone to maybe 1-2 years later.. heez... still can wait..i'm 23 this year

hey girls, remember to plan/budget on the things that needs to be bought (soon after you get your house too).. e.g. electrical appliances
