hi dor, there is a website www.theartshouse.com.sg which provides the venue capacity. having it at the old parliament house is kinda nostalgic.. for solemisation, i think this is really one of the better places. U only need to prepare light finger food and some cocktails. The Lawn at raffles is also nice but i think they may be a bit pricey when thrown all in.

Nonetheless, all the best for your wedding!!!

hi dor, there is no min or max amount. it depends on your budget. u can cater food based on the no. of pax that u invite. alternatively, have it at ROM and bring them out for lunch. for mine, i held it at my condo garden. it was very small and cosy and inexpensive.

U can go for a compromise.

I did my solemnisation outdoors at Rasa Sentosa, then we moved indoors for the Chinese dinner. We wanted a true-blue outdoors wedding, but couldnt bear the thots of the old auntie and uncle relavtives having to get queue and collect their food from the buffet tables.

    hi junior & saggit,

my budget was about 3K for everything, including rings, gowns, etc...which i not very sure whether is it enough.

i hv check with a few hotels and their package is rather out of budget for me. i have roughly calculated, i will hv about 70 pax, so the buffet will cost me around 2K.

but than if to hold my solemnisation at ROM and travel to somewhere for lunch or high tea, i find it rather troublesome, especially i have elderly going.

    am i very confusing???

HI dor, how much u spend depends on your expectations. U can't ask for the sky and pay peanuts right. why don't you work on your list and prioritise them? then, you will know how to manage the cost at itemised levels.

    dor..

some restaurants also have private rooms and they might let u use it to hold your solemnisation. So you can do your solemnisation away from the Registry! then your guests dont have to travel to and fro.

You only need to find a JP to conduct the solemnisation.

Btw, if you are talking about buffet lunch, it's sure going to be quite expensive. Anyway to trim down your numbers? Else, pray hard that people "bao" angbao to you so that you can recover some costs....

My dad's retired & with the tight budget & wanting to save money I am actually considering just to get my parents both sides & siblings to the ROM place & just doing it there to save on the trouble of a justice of peace. I can even wear more simple clothes & makeup for myself too. just need a hair dresser or some nicer hair pc to complete the look.

At the end of the day my work's pilling up & i am too busy to plan too much for an elaborate wedding - my SO is kind of being taken into the idea as well - previously we were so set on outside ROM solemnisation.

My other option is to choose the same date as my wedding & the hotel will set up a room near my banquet hall for a simple ceremony & my relatives can come like 1 hr before hand to witness the solemnisation.

Or i could ask the hotel to set up one of their smaller function rooms for this on another date - provided i throw my lunch or high tea meal after the solemnisation in one of their F & B outlets.

the room setup will be FOC.

one of my gfs also had it simple. She booked 2 rooms at fullerton hotel- one for each side of the family, had the tea ceremony there followed by a few tables at the restaurant in the hotel.

so no hassle of driving around ... but i cant remember if the bridegroom actually drove around the hotel before going to her room or what..

Ladies, we're planning to ROM at end of this year and intending it to be an outdoor solemnisation. Any recommendations for venue decor companies? Not outdoor as in garden or beach but more likely at indoor places like function rooms. Thanks in advance.....

How about poolside? Function rooms, basically i think every hotel n country club can cater to it.. just a matter of whether u like the layout of the place. Should go down n check out your preference.

    Congratulations!

Thanks Vernis and Priscillia for your suggestion and feedback. We already have a venue in mind, we've narrowed down to either function rooms in condo or chalet resort. Hence need to look out for companies does decoration/wedding settings. Any recommendations for such companies? Thanks
