Default Vintage timepieces

Hi,

Can someone recommend watch shops that sell new vintage timepieces, please? I'm looking at mid-end ones or maybe I should say my budget is not high: under $1k. I recently saw two pieces at under $800 and wonder if the price is right. One's an Omega and another a Rado. Another one I fancy is a Zodiac but it's rather dressy (very bling) and the face is so tiny I think it's not good for my eyes

I also prefer those that I can wear on easily, like Rolex type straps. I'm also open to pocket watches as they double up as long necklaces that're easy to wear.

I really dunno much about vintage timepieces so I hope to learn a thing or two here. Any links to educational webbies, please share as well. Thanks!

is it normal for a omega to be under 800$ pricing if its vintage series? unless they have servicing cert from authorised dealer, how do we know if the parts inside are changed etc? unless go for verification?

^I'd like to know, too. I haven't gotten that far with the uncle. I only asked if they sell authentic watches and of course they said yes; that they can't sell fake stuff. I saw some 1960s Omega Constellation series watches going for under US$900 on an online store (the Omega I saw is more like a dress watch). And I saw some Rados going for barely USD200. I need to go to more shops to compare prices. Any recs, please?

I think they're not quite vintage enough, notapig, if we're talking about the same watches. This is a vintage Titoni.

Hi Ladies, vintage watches can't be brand new....... don't buy from overseas cos u will have problem if u need servicing.

I wld recommend u gals to checkout http://www.heirloom2.com/Newadditions_index.htm and you may checkout Army Market @ Beach Road.

Batteries operated vintage watches will cost cheaper and Manual Winding usually cost above $1K and of course brands varies too.

For me i'll personally go for Manual Winding vintage watches

Thanks for the info, babynutz. But I think it's still possible to find new vintage watches.. how about those at Army Market? What brands are they selling and are they brand new? The Omega and Rado I saw in Bukit Timah Plaza are supposedly new and likely vintage. How old do they mean by vintage? Thanks.

Brand new vintage watches i presume as in mint condition? Anything manufactured b4 the year i'm born i'll consider vintage

For a start i wld prefer Omega compare to Rado given the brand u saw. Do avoid Quartz/Battery operated for watches costing above $1k cos not easy to maintain over the years.

I need to check out the name of the shop @ Army Market will PM u the contact later. It sells used watches quite alot of brand but he specialise more in servicing & selling Rolex. I remember the shop owner got a few really vintage watches with tag which his dad left behind when he took over the shop and i don't really remember the brand. I think its some brand it doesn't exist anymore. U need to call & fix appt to view the watches cos if the shop is occupied owner will not let u go in to view the watches.

There r a couple of small shop that sells vintage watches u can look see look see first.

I'm not really an expert but i'll share watever i know. I've only collected some vintage timepieces and this can b'com a very expensive hobby

Ah but you didn't indicate how old you are I guess I'd be more interested in lower-end vintage timepieces such as Mido, Zodiac, Bulova. I hope that guy in Beach Road can fix watches other than vintage Rolexes.

U can jus got there and take a look first. If u buy from local make sure they give u at least 1 year warranty in case the watch gives u problem. Cos servicing vintage watches may be expensive cos some spare part is difficult to find..... Let me *** when u got ur vinatge timepiece. I'll post some of my collections when i took e photos. (Btw can i insert pic from my desktop directly.......i jus cldn't find the right icon to do it)
