Creating this thread so that we can share information on cost or unforseen $ we have to pay later on for servicing of watches. Helps us to see if we should consider Quartz or Automotive
Pls quote if yr watch is Quartz/Automotive, how long before u have to service it etc

i spent less than 500 to service my cartier tank francaise quartz. full service including polishing. it is a two tone (steel and gold) was told it is more expensive than servicing a steel watch as they have to replate the gold. sent it in 2 years after i bought it. haven't serviced it since and it works fine.
spent 1200 to service a breguet automatic. somehow the rotor decided to get stuck right after the warranty period ran out. locally they didn't have the expertise to do it so they had to send it all the way back to europe. took 6 months too! serviced it twice in 3 years. will never buy a breguet again.
spent 450 to service a sinn automatic stainless steel. sent for servicing 5 years after purchase.
was told it is much more expensive to service automatic and manual watches as compared to quartz. of course this is provided there is no battery leakage problem for the quartz.
wow so my dad serviced his breguet automatic at cheaper rate? hehehehee he serviced it at $800 and get it 'fly' over to HQwhere did u send it through? to Breguet boutique or ? My dad send through authorised dealer he bought it from. I think his took few months too.
I just send in my bvlgari for servicing. Better dont call me on next week as it will be = full servicing required = at least 300+?
$1200.......... can get a tag or low range omega right?
yeah i know, really regret buying that watch. i was pretty pissed because the first week i bought it the rotor got stuck so i got hour glass to send back to agent for me. then 3 years later, it got jammed and they said oh no too bad after warranty, serious problem, hour glass sent it back to the factory. i guess that's why cost $1200.
and the best thing is, i think i wore that watch for less than 20 times. so angry with it that i sold it immediately after getting it back from the factory.
did u managed to hit even when u sell that watch off? my dad is worse..... also wear less than 5x. i think automatic watch must wear daily or must wind daily to make sure inside dont have problems. thats why now i'm considering hard too.
Servicing Charges
Tag Huer - $65
Rolex - $450
Automatic watches always cost a lot more.
My Tag Heur Link cost $275 for full overhaul maintenance at LV's service centre.
My beef is that it takes 3-4 weeks every 3-5 yrs.
The polishing service was top notch though, came back like new.
Nowadays there are quartz watches with battery life of 10 yrs. Quite tempting if your aim is convenience and trouble free usage (provided there is no battery leakage).
hi,
is that automatic or quartz movement for the Tag? after service, how many yrs of warranty?
