what's your budget ?
if size and weight is an issue, eliminate G11.
do note that G11 does not have F2 lens like S95 and LX5.
the size of LX5 may not be that portable as in among the 3 cams, think S95 is the only that can fit in a pocket.
the cheapest should be S95, do test if the flash have to be raise electronically via menu.
the main reason i chose LX3 over S90 is because i hate going into the menu to activate flash for S90, cause LX3 can raise flash manually.
as you become more accustom to your cam, being able to change settings in the fastest time possible, will make you appreciate your cam more.
after all, moments wait for no one.

i dont have budget...because is my dad paying for the camera...
what is F2 lens?
u will choose lx5 ar?
as in image quality, stabiliser, night shot..low light shot... which one better?
F2 lens is lens with bigger aperture hole that allows more light to enter the lens, thus allowing the camera to capture more light in low light areas.
image quality - canon wins with cleaner noise performance
stabiliser - panasonic (pioneer of this technology)
night shot - panny (longer shutter speed)
low light shot - canon, could be a draw though the difference should be very small unless one decides to pixel peep (zoom into the details of a picture)
but i would still want to highlight a good camera is only as good as its user...
to lessen your dad's pain in parting with his cash, as a good daughter, maybe you want to consider the S95 ?
or else if you feel you will eventually get better and prove your dad wrong with good pictures, you might want to consider LX5 cause specs wise is slightly better.
to me, both are equally good cameras but most importantly is you must be comfortable with its interface.
go for a test between the 2 camera and see which interface you are more comfortable with.
sometimes a camera picks its owner, like me since i used panny cam from 05 so naturally i would stick with the same interface.
likewise for canon users, i also would advise them to stick to the same interface.

hello
i crazy about Nikon d90
what do you think about this camera?![]()
I tried Sony TX99 and was pretty amazed by its Sweep Panorama mode. Just one sweep and the panorama view is captured, without the traditional stitch feature.
On the other hand, it is now SD compatibilty.
A bit tempting to get a Sony camera..
But I have been using Canon all these years and it never fails me, just that its now becoming an antique.. and I love how user friendly it is..
Scared if get a Sony, don't know how to use.. both Sony and Canon cameras I am looking at almost the same price..
Anyone using a Sony TX99, how do you like it?
For LUMIX range of compact cameras, which one is good?
LX5 seems a bit bulky. Panasonic uses Leica lens, so i assume its better?
