I dont have IXUS but I highly recommend their PowerShot Series. I have PowerShot S45 and it has a really solid body & takes excellent pictures.

Ixus 900 is my most wanted, or 850 is another choice too!

No wonder all your MU photos are so picturelicious~~
I'm using a Powershot A710IS... I think it has lousy refresh rate after flash (can wait up to 2-3 seconds!) Does the S series have that problem?

I had a IXUS 850 but sadly to say, i prefer my old 4mega pixel Olympus . The latter can take sharp and closed up pic well but IXUS is good to take scenary scenes. maybe i can't really master the steps but turning on the macro mode and adjusting all the white balance and exposure, the closed up pic are just no fantastic.
I think you need to look into your own requirements too.

True. Ixus looks really nice and pretty, but the highest optical zoom is what, 3x or 4x?
My powershot goes up to 6x. And it's easy to hold and take pictures with one hand (for right handers) cos it has a grip. I've scared of holding Ixus with 1 hand.

So it depends on idividual needs and preference~

I cannot recommend Canon Ixus enough. I am using Ixus 60 and borrowed my uncle's Ixus 40 when I went to Beijing 2 years ago. I was swept off my feet when I saw the colours, very robust. So went on to get my Ixus 60/ Most Ixus come with macro functions which you can take close up pictures.

My father has an Ixus 75 which has a wider lens and I very much prefer that. It's best to check on your needs. Generally, a 4 or 5 mega pixel camera is more than enough for normal photo taking and developing 4R pictures.

The downside of my camera is it's 3.0 optical zoom. I think most Canon Ixus has only 3.0 optical zoom.

Artichoke: That is a very good picture. Was it taken with Ixus 60?

I have a Ixus 50 and I love it! Very easy to use, quite idiot-proof. I like the night function where things can still look bright.

silvercloud, yes it was. I agree with you on the idiot proof functions. Canon produces good cameras. My bane is their 3x optical zooms.

shinystar: For your selphy printers... do you know roughly how much each picture will cost you? Like ink + paper? Cos I'm considering one ... Thanks

I use their Power Shot series because I prefer AA batteries to Lithium ion ones. And I like the stability of big cameras

Another reason why I'm a big fan of Canon - Their customer service is great! Very professional and prompt.

I'd like to know if anyone here uses the IS series -- not quite a digital SLR, but I've been lemming one of those for a long time. I'm still quite intimidated by all the manual settings in an SLR but I really dig the 10-12x optical zoom
