Avira is locally carried by Aurica.
As long as you are using the below brands, you should be safe.
Note that NO antivirus software is 100%. It all depends on the user. How he/she opens a suspicious file or fill in a suspicious form.
Imagine giving your POSB or OCBC account number to a stranger is as good as no security.
List of good antivirus (clean & sleek - no resource hogging)
==============
Avast (free or Paid edition)
Kaspersky (paid)
NOD32
Other than that
Avira & AVG is fine.. but I have lost faith in AVG.
Trend & Mcafee is fine.
Symantec (ONLY enterprise edition), NOrton is TOO memory intensive & resource hogging.
Uninstallation is too problematic.
I use Avast, free edition
According the various online benchmarks,Avira has the highest detection rate in the anti-virus market. It's also light on system resources,I am using it currently. You don't have to pay for Avira,it's free of charge unless you absolutely MUST HAVE the additional features. Like what a fellow Cotter has commented,having the basic protection will do,it all boils down to your internet usage habits.
