The PC Show 2003 starts today! Anybody been there yet? I myself won't be going until Sunday but i have a friend helped me check out the deals for the two models which i'm targeting.
Olympus mju 300 @ $699, including freebies of 128mb xD card (i think), a set of 4 season watches and an Olympus tripod
versus
Canon Powershot A70 @ $599, including a free tripod, 6 rolls 36 exp film (dunno what's that), lens pen, 58 mm filter, ef les workbook, electric dry box and a 64 mb CF card.
Me am quite inclined towards the latter coz i had two colleagues telling me on separate occasions that Canon's picture qualities are better than Olympus but the Olympus looks so much better and comes with the free 128 mb xD card. Hmmmm anybody got a Olympus? Comments?
I know i know, especially since Nikon has this promotion for its brand of cameras right now but i've only just narrowed down to this twoDon't tempt me

6 rolls 36 exp film (dunno what's that),
you must be blur like sotong like me!
its the traditional film you use to load into traditional camera.
that means they give you 6 rolls of films that you can take 36 photos in each.
but its so strange, why do they give away films when you buy digital camera?
imho, you should compare the camera in terms of its specs instead of the freebies they are giving. you would hardly use the freebies like the filter lens. you probably just want something to focus and shoot when you are considering a digital camera.

Wahahahahaha yeah i'm really a blur sotong irl keke  Oh well, i did think that it's those traditional film used by the traditional cameras but the 'exp' before it made me rethink coz like you said, why would they give out those films when i'm buying a digi and not a normal camera in the first place? So i dunno, ***Originally posted by appleger

Anyway, the specs for the two are almost identical, except that they are from two different but reputable brands and the memory cards used are different too. And not forgetting the aesthetics of coz. Looks wise i prefer the Olympus but i get feedback that the picture quality of Canon is better. So...![]()
nikon lens are good, imo. do you realise there's not many people owning a olympus digital camera (i dont know why).
anyway, if you have the time. do read the reviews.

Hey thanks appleger for the two links. Never seen these before coz i've only check cnet and dpreviews so far. Am taking a break from work now and reading them hee![]()
anyone has any feedback on the canon powershot series e.g s45? s50? i'm thinking of getting a cam now.. and the pc show has good offers for s50 though it's still terribly expensive. any experts out there whom i can consult?
thanks so much!
hi Raine, what's the offer for the S50?
i suppose there's some GWP?
Thanks!
i own the S40! but i don't really know how to utilise its functions fully..(but i did try to figure out how to set the "white balance" in manual mood yesterday!
)
basically the powershot series is great, lots of modes for me to fiddle with (black and white shots, sepia shots, manual mode, video mode) but i only use the auto mode. a tad heavy and big for my liking as i'm more of a point and shoot kind of person.
my dad bought this camera for his own use i think (but i ended up monopolising it) but given a choice i would rather choose a smaller camera (like ixus)
oh pictures taken by the camera were pretty good too. i didn't use the highest resolution but the pictures came out very clear when developed at a professional photo developing shop!![]()
CF card reader
dry box XL
tripod
lowepro memory card wallet
ixus watch
back pack
post it pad
camera case
lcd protector
128 mb compact flash card
camera selling at $999
it's a good deal![]()
raine very good deal!!
i bought the S40 at $1199 with only a free 128MB memory card..![]()
wow seems like there're lots of good deals for digital camera nowadays. i remember when my dad got me mine he paid around $1700 for it and it only came with a 32mb memory card. had to pay almost another $200 for a 128mb card and a hard carrying case.....
