The Deal: $10.90, Year-End Rejuvenating Package: White Radiance Facial + Lavender Handcare Therapy + Reviving Eye Treatment by Asian Skin Solution (Worth $380)
The consultant Cocoa (or Coco) attends to me after a wait of 10-15min. She started to praise my hair for looking trendy and bring out a character in me. Then she starts to share how good they are and only specialist in Asian Skin and ONLY SERVE Asian, they don't serve non Asian or Caucasian. And start to find fault with my skin and trying to make me believe I should sign up package to maintain my healthy skin.
I told her I am not interested in taking up package and I used to go facial a lot when I was younger but not now. Because I am lazy, I am not interested and I have no time. Sometime I sign a package but I don't go for treatment for a year. I felt its a waste of time and money for me. She then took some scanning on my face and said my skin is dry, lots of pigmentation, some oil clog, and some don't know what that she say in Chinese. I ask her what is it call in English because I am not familiar with the Chinese term she used, and she said she don't know and say it's not important what is it call in English, I just have to know I have a lot of problem on my face and maybe is the cosmetic causes to have uneven skin tone because of some unhealthy chemical in it. And I need to detox my face.... blah blah blah.
I highlighted to her that I can't see the problem on my face until they scanned and enlarge it on the tv screen. To me, I am not affected by the "so call problem" she had mentioned because you don’t see it with the naked eyes and I am not keen in taking any package. Then she said its my face, she can only tells me the problem, if I am not keen in taking care, there is nothing she can do, ultimately when I grow older if I don't look pretty its still my face not hers.
Very pushy and I don't like the way she answer back. Still I am not willing to sign the package until I had tried the treatment. Honestly if everything go well and I like the treatment, who know I will be back for facial some other time when I feel like doing it.
She then say if I am not concern with the problem I have, then why do I visit them for treatment. Because it's Chinese New Year and I haven’t been doing for a year. Since there is a good deal, so I came to try. And then I start to shut off and play with my iphone.
She has no choice but to get her staff to bring me to the room for treatment. The rooms are along some corridor within their premise, there is no light in the room, so I change in total darkness. The door has to leave 1/2 open to that it will be brighten by the lights outside the corridor. There was no music to relax and the room look plain simple and small. My face was briefly cleanse, lightly scrub, steam, then Cocoa (or Coco) came and put on a whitening serum and massage my face. It is not comfortable and skilful cos her thumbs keep pressing at my nose and block my breathing for 2-3 sec. Then she applies the white masking and place a thin layer of eyes cloths which is the eye mask over.
After that she apply the Lavender hand cream on my hand that doesn't smell like Lavender and I don't feel my hand is smooth too. In between the treatments someone keep coming in and out of the room which I feel disturb. There are man talking along the corridor and foot step which make me uneasy because the door is 1/2 open as there is no light inside the room.
After 10min, Cocoa (or Coco) came back to wash off the mask and clean my face. Thereafter she use a tissue to wipe off the excess water on my face, the tissue is tougher than toilet paper. And she has to press so hard on my forehead and my head and the bed went down! Need so much strength to wipe off the water? Then she notice my eyes area was not properly cleanse, so she wipe off with the tough tissue hard, didnt she know eyes is a dedicate area?
No machine was used except the steamer, there is nothing extraordinary about treatment, nothing fantastic about the service, no extraction and such a simple treatment is worth $380? Who are you kidding? After the treatment I still see my eye liner and some mascara area my eyes (see attached picture). Just a brief cleaning, a gentle scrub, some steaming, a serum to massage, a mask. I don’t even feel my face is clean, don’t see my face is brighter after the treatment. Seriously I can do such treatment myself better at home.
I had better service and treatment in FIL. I used to spend $2k on my facial package with FIL, I tried Jean Yip, Dermalogica, New York Skin Solutions etc. Even the HDB standard treatment at my house area is MUCH BETTER.
