I first signed a package with Bella and I love the environment and the soothing facials they offer. However, the hard selling and price prompted me to look for an economical alternative.
Signed a package with Angelsky Orchard 3 years ago and regretted big time! Caused scarring on my face and I demanded for a refund which they flatly refused to grant! I've finally decided to go back this year to finish up the package and every time they never fail to harrass me to sign up for another package. The consultant wasn't exactly courteous and kept pushing every possible package to me but I simply said no. Can't wait to finish this package and move on to a more pleasant place for facials :p
Having read through the forum, realised that it is not only my beauty salon that does hard sell.
Beyond Beauty does the usual things. When I signed up with them, I had a budget. But they just put me down for the bare minimum. So later, they told me I need certain other courses in order to complete the facial. Obviously, the cost per facial now is more than the desired budget.
The first that I ever tried was Poly Beauty at Vivocity. The beautician told me that my package included both eye mask and the usual facial. But subsequently when I went after signing up, she told me she made a mistake. It was a price just for pure facial. I felt so cheated.
Anyone has good recommendations of a facial place that at least considers your needs when selling you the packages?
i really love my experience at vivo adonis , i have also share my experience in the blog.
one thing is they are really not pushy

I have been with Bonafides (Tampines Telepark branch) for almost 7 years. I won't say they are the best in "technology" but I feel very comfortable with the beauticians there and the normal facial with eye mask is adequate for me. So far i have only had 2 fixed beautician through the years, the 1st one lasted for about 4 years and she left after giving birth, and my current beautician for the last 3 years and going strong.
They are not pushy but do the usual selling of package when yours is ending. Occasionally they will promote their new products or products that you need but no big deal when you say no.
Package wise will depends on how you bargain it. Mine was quite a good deal, $75 for the usual facial works, ampoules, extraction, head & shoulder massage, double layer face and neck mask, usually about 2-2.5 hours. And I can choose the 24K ginseng gold facial or the Vit C something facial. My eye mask is additional at $30 x 10times.
DON'T EVER TRY SKINPERFECT LABS http://www.skinperfect.com.sg/contactus
rubbish service, full of nonsense. they screwed up my appointment, insisted that i go to other outlets, from Toa Payoh to Ang Mo Kio to Tampines to Parkway. WTF?!
and no apologies at all.
any facial salons thats good near cck?
Not too sure where to post this, but i reckon that everyone here is quite experienced with facialsI've had a facial done for the first time, and i'm wondering - is it ok to put on bb cream the next day after facial? And is it normal to experience dry skin after the whole routine? Thanks!
usually after facial ur face shld feel very moisturized! cos they put all sorts of serums and moisturizers and after masks should be quite hydrated?
a bit weird that ur face feels dry?
i've tried a number of salons.
1. modern beauty - tried this when i was a student and bought their trial session, i think was $28. went to the raffles place branch, very big and spacious. massage was good but same thing tried to hardsell me expensive packages which i honestly couldn't afford anyway.
2. beyond beauty - not bad this salon, i actually quite liked it. there was a manager who tried to hardsell my friend and i a more expensive package WHILE we were doing our facial. pretty inconsiderate, i think. come on man, we're covered up in blankets and cotton pads, enjoying the massage and all. this woman comes in and starts talking about her packages. very annoyed, i told her off.
my beautician was very nice, she didn't try to hardsell me anything, only when they had special promotions or to add an ampoule. that's why i stuck with her throughout my package there.
3. leonard drake - my favourite, by far. first of all, i like dermalogica's products, i think they actually work! especially the medibac range for acne prone skin.
and the beauticians don't do hardselling, the first time i went, i wanted to sign the more expensive package, but the lady attending to me said, why don't you try the cheaper one first, see if it suits you, then you sign the more expensive one.
amazing!
i always leave the salon with clean, unclogged skin! if you go in the day, they actually apply sunblock for you! so considerate!
4. atos wellness - this is one of the worst. went for a trial with my mum (credit card promo) and signed up for an aromatherapy course. after the first session, they put me in a small cubicle, the manager came, and started to sell me a set of ampoules for don't know how many hundreds of dollars.
i told her i have a lot of such products at home, i don't use, and if i buy anymore, my mother's going to give me a good scolding.
she came up with all sorts of funny theories, and even said that she'd sell it loosely to me, which is an exception because they usually only sell in a box set of 12.
i said i don't need it, and she asked me to try. the best part is she tried the product on my left hand. after more talking, she held up my right hand and said, look, your right hand looks and feel smoother / softer now right?
i was, like, dumbfounded!!!!
so i told her politely, hey, you tried the product on my left hand actually.
she didn't even blush!!!! amazing right. she just said oh, because you're a young girl, your skin naturally smooth.
what the...
and end of the story is, i still have 6 sessions with them, i'm going to take really long to complete it.
i hate that i have to think of excuses to reject their hardselling every session.
i thought facial and massage is to destress???
so why am i so stressed everytime i go for these sessions???
just mysorry for the long post.

matsumoto: sorry what i meant was it felt dry the next day, although they had slathered on a thick gel moisturiser after the treatmenti think because my skin was too thin and so the exfoliator had done the job. Lol! still, i do not know whether it is advisable to put on bb cream or any sort of makeup the next day after facial... can anyone advise?

I like SK II facial so far. And they never hardsell. If I said I would think about it when they offered the package, they would still smile and friendly. And the bed is comfortable.
My skin is getting better
I have done facial at Bella before and they really did hardsell.
i treid ultimate wellness spa at shaw centre - their 1st trial promo $35nett
its not bad , at least they dont use those sheet mask which i always feel it removes the experience of "spa moments" cos it can be easily done at home.
so i had the deep cleansing facial top with cold mask.
the service is quite good, ambience better than true spa which is like having a facial in a cubicle.
the only down side is the expensive package - $1998 which is quite steep for 20 facials.
I went FIL and they really hardsell like mad. The manager and beautician will stay in the room and keep pushing me to sign on afew thousands worth of package and i did not enjoy a single moment of peace when i did my facial there. Leonard Drake is not bad, the staff wasn't pushy at all. This is one of the better and comfortable place i patronise often.
