I had about 6 or 7 treatments (can't remember now) and yes, IPL can definitely be done if you have pimples. The light kills the bacteria in active pimples so you'll find them drying up and disappearing quite quickly. IPL however does not prevent new ones from coming up.

I didn't have any scars but I did have some light freckles on my cheeks and nose, these disappeared completely after about 3 or 4 sessions.

Nope, IPL does not close pores forever. It's only a temporary effect. And no, it doesn't prevent acne or blackheads forever either.

I tried IPL and didn't see really visible results. With good skincare and patience, you can achieve the same results. IMHO, IPL is something that you go for only if you have the extra cash and don't mind the temporary almost-non-existent improvements in your skin.

any doctors that do laser cheaply? cos those at geneagles and other centre cost $$$ ***. no money. prefer to limit at $400 per session.

I didn't see any difference when I tried it. IPL did make my skin seemed brighter but it didn't really lighten my scars much. Skincare did a better job.

Sorry to bump this thread up. But has anyone visited Dr Wong yet? Any reviews?

I'm on the lookout for a good dermatologist to try the IPL treatment and Dr Wong sounds really promising. The only thing holding me back now are safety concerns. Sure wouldn't want the procedure to further scar my face!

doc informed me that IPL does not help with scars. microdermabrasion is a better bet.

*sigh* I've tried microdermabrasion before. It made my skin very thin and sensitive. Was hoping some of these new laser treatments such as IPL and Cooltouch would be better.

my derm is recommending this new one called aramis laser. but it seems more for acne use. not sure about scars. perhaps the best peson to consult would be your derm. hopefully, you'll find a procedure most suitable for your skintype. all the best.

Anyone knows anything abt HPL ??? I never heard of it before (IPL yes, HPL ???? )

But was recommemded to do it at SYY clinic ... have to go twice a week ...

I have tons of white and blackheads and oil clots... taking roacccutane too...

Wonder if the HPL helps ... cause it cost quite abit ...

I had mine done by Wong Wai Kee several years ago and he charged me $250 per session. I've to say that I didn't see any significant improvement in my skin after about 6 times so I stopped going.

FYI, I just called Dr wong wai kee's clinic, a bit :roll: when the first girl said," we don't do IPL here." then the second girl take over the phone and said," we do IPL here" then when I asked about the charges, is $300-$600 per session.
