I googled and this is what I found.
Physical exfoliator has beads or granules inside. It uses abrasive action to remove the dead skin. There's always a chance of tearing if you rub too vigorously.
Chemical exfoliator uses AHA or BHA or enzymes to remove the dead skin.
AHA - Alpha hydroxy acids are molecules derived from mostly natural sources such as citrus fruit (citric acid), sugar cane (glycolic acid) and milk (lactic acid). Over use tend to cause drying to the skin and more prone to sun sensitivity. So it is advisable to add moisturiser and sunscreen to your skincare routine.
BHA - BHAs (salicylic acid) are closely related to AHAs but work in slightly different ways. Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) still exfoliate the skin but because they're a larger molecule, they don't penetrate as far into the follicle as AHAs.
Enzymes - They work differently to acids; instead of penetrating the dermis, they actually digest any debris, such as dead proteins or excess sebum, on the surface of the skin.
For me, I always check on the ingredients before buying.![]()
