whenever I need to buy skincare or cosmetic, I will have a problem...
From the surface, I look like I have oily skin, but if you look closer, I actually ALSO have dehydrated lines all over!!! products from oily skin will make my dry lines more prominent, products for dry skin will be too rich for me and made me break up!!!
By the way, I am also in my 30s and badly in need of anti-ageing ... but I totally dont know which moisturiser I can use for my ageing, oily yet dehydrated skin!!
any help here?
I do. i'm also in my 30s. It's actually oily but looks dehydrated from the surface at times. What i do is i use an AHA / BHA cleanser. Use Claymask once a week and hydrating mask once or twice a week. I have an oil-free moisturizer that i use from time to time.
One of the impt things.....drinks lots of water everyday. It helps....
i've the same prob.
same as what badger stated, use a claymask everywk but its also essential to use hydrating mask.
for moisturizer, try using jojoba oil. its good.
Me too! Have very dehydrated skin. I will avoid products with alcohol, it tends to dry up my skin. And yes, drink plenty of water even if you are not thirsty.
wow ... so many of you are like me!!
any moisturiser to recommend?
I am looking for a hydrating day moisturiser that will keep my lines at bay and yet would not make my make up melt ...
I have oily skin on the outside, but dry skin on the inside.. and it's killing me~~!!
it's hard for me to use the right product for my skin...
The more dehydrated your skin is the oilier it gets. That's because of the unbalance of oil-water in our skin. I am using Avene range, which is very good at keeping skin hydrated. especially the serum and Hydrance Light cream. I always get recommended wrong stuff cos most facialist cannot see whether your skin is oily due to hormones or the cause of dehydration. All they see is your skin is very shiny, and proceed to recommend oil reducing product... which is most of the time making ur skin more dehydrated... which aggravate the oil glands....
It's best to use those lotion or gel type oil-free moisturiser if you have oily skin. I'm using cinelle moisturiser together with rosehip oil. So far so good.
i have oily and dehydrated skin too. I use a gentle facial wash (i heard that its the main cause of dryness) and avoid toners with alcohol. I only use moisturiser at night (cos i sleep in an aircon room) and only sunblock in the day.. seems to help quite abit![]()
If you have this skin type, you cannot use cleanser for oily skin. You should also be very careful about using sunblock from Japanese brands because most contain alcohol. Alcohol in sunscreens will aggravate the dryness in your skin and tends to accelerate fine lines and wrinkles. You need to look at the ingredients of the sunblock. For moisturising, a balancing oil can help in this skin type. An example is jojoba oil, as already suggested. Vitamin C serum used under your sunscreen also helps to protect against sun damage and has antioxidant (and anti-ageing) properties. You can check out Vit. C serums thread. Skinceuticals make good Vit. C serums and their B5 hydrating gel helps to lock moisture in the skin without being sticky or greasy. Their products are pricey but these 2 that I have mentioned have good reviews.
hi...im interested to ***...
how will i know that i have oily yet dehydrated skin instead of just normal combination skin?
thankss....![]()
Also in my 30s and I have the same predicament too. Please make sure your cleanser is not harsh, avoid those that give you that sqeaky cean feeling.
I have been using a combination of an anti-aging moisturiser and emu oil based serum. When your skin is dry on the surface, your oil glands will compensate by producing even more oil. By using good oils, you are letting the skin know that the oil supply is sufficient, therefore no need to produce more oil.
Shocking it may sound but I found that it balances my skin. I tried this out after learning this trick from another forum.

Emu oil is good, but can cause outbreaks in some people. Jojoba oil is safer, as it also helps to unclog pores and blackheads, less likely to aggravate acne. Also, emu oil has a bit of smell (like chicken fat). Some people can't take the smell.
