Chemical peel or skin peel

Hi

I did my chemical peel last Friday.
Face started to peel on Sunday and is still peeling today.
That is ok as it is supposed to peel.

But now, my skin is dry, tight and red.
Red but smooth.
Is this dryness/tightness and redness due to the peel or is it due to the skin products I am using after the peel ?
I bought the cleanser, toner and 2 creams from the doctor when I did my peel. When I put on the creams, my face will sting for 2 min. Does it mean my raw skin is absorbing the stuff I put on my face ?

Doctor is out of town so I have no one to ask.
Anyone who did peels before can advise ?

Thanks.

Hi spring5, i think what you had experienced is pretty normal. Because the skin is pretty raw now, that's why you have the stingy feeling when you put your facial products. Especially if the products contains AHA??

IMHO, I think the best thing to do now is to strictly avoid the sun and also not to put on any make-up for a while.

It is normal for your skin to be red, itchy, and tight after the peel. Your skin will still continue to peel for a few more days.

Did you ask your doctor what kind of cream was given to you? Was there any AHA in the cleanser/toner/cream?
You should not apply any AHA products on your skin 24hrs after your peel, because it will burn your skin further. The stinging you experience might be from the AHA in the cream. If the cream has no acids, then it might be because of the sensitivity of your skin after the peel.
But since you cannot contact your doctor, i suggest that you stop applying the cream to see if your skin improves. You can apply pure aloe vera gel if you want some moisture.

Don't stay out in the sun and ALWAYS wear sunscreen because the peel will remove the protective layer of your skin, making it more sensitive to the sun. And you will burn more easily, it might also cause scarring/hyperpigmentation.
Your face will remain red for a period of time, but it can be covered with powder.

thanks for your replies. truly appreciate it.

my doctor did not prepare me mentally how it is going to be.
i am peeling quite badly esp after lunch.

i brish my teeth after lunch and once the sunblock touches the water, it comes off and then i start to peel throughout the afternoon.

which brand to buy pure aloe vera gel ?
can get from guardian ?

i tried using my old moisturer and it stings after application....
don even dare to use neutrogena hydrating mask in case it causes further complications.

donnooo how long my face will remain red and raw :piss:

Hi Spring5, don't worry... Just bear it for a few weeks. Think of the beautiful skin you'll get in a few weeks' time. Its definitely worth it.. I think its best not to use other brands of skincare just in case it reacts with the skincare products that the doctor has prescribed.

As clpersonal recommend, maybe loose powder could conceal the redness. But personally, I won't use more makeup than that.

As for the aloe vera, try to do a search in Cozycot. I remember there was a thread discussing about aloe vera gel.

Hi..

i used to do chemical peels at my skin clinic too, and i understand perfectly *** you're going thru!

1 very gd moisturer that my doc gave me was Avene's skin recovery cream. This moisturer really helped to restore the moisture into my dry peeling skin when it was healing.

I guess it will take abt 2-3 weeks before skin finally is back to normal...but i just ply on the cream onto the peeling n red raw areas ...plus its not oily at all!

About chemical peeling? What's the chemical used? AHA?

I was suggested by my derm to try one time of chemical peel to get rid of all my red scars. But he did warn that I need time off everything for my skin to recuperate.

He also suggested Laser. Well, I didn't try it today because I wasn't really ready for the pain. How painful can it be?!

i had a series of 6 done but it doesnt have any visible side effects - minimal flaking and redness, but had to stay out of the sun. It has called beta-liftx.

What are you using for your peels? Try to stay out of the sun, buy a hat and use a fragrance free moistriser. I used a moisturiser from the derm but perhaps you might want to try physiogel. Avene is great for sensitive skin although it stung me alittle so test out a small patch first!

i used Neucare brand vit e before when i had overdosge of acids. they really help smooth out the skin but your doc should have given you instructions on what to do ya or you were to excited dear you did not hear? its also available at Guardian.

yes stay clear of the sun - sun damage or possible spots in the future since you skin is now very vulnerable.

Default Chemical peel

Am thinking of doing chemical peel on my back to fade the scars left by chickenpox and acne. Anyone has experience on this? Need price, no. of treatment, place and result or any other recommendation appreciated.

Btw, anyone know how much Trinity charge for chemical peel or their package on it?

TIA.
