I had gone to DRX clinic today for a cnsultation today and after the consultation, the doctor, a charming man of his age) told me i could have my moles removed. I booked for an appointment about a week ago.

    Service wise:
the moment I stepped into the clinic... I straight away felt slightly intimidated.. The uniforms are white the walls are white and grey... I felt as if I am in a year 2030. But..
I registered At the counter... Was called up quite promptly and was ushered to the doctor's room. The doctor was rather warm, non judgemental and professional. After assessing and explaining the procedure to me, I waited for another 5 min before signing a consent.. Service was fast Actually. and within 30 min... The whole procedure completed. so I was I. The clinic and out for about 1.5hrs...

As for the removing of the MoleyS... let's see... I have two quite big and bumppy moles below my right eye... That had to be removed first by EC...my moley had to first be injected with LA to numd the area... It's stingy!!! Hate it.. But tolerable... Den the process started... The doctor told me *** he would use EC first and flatten the mole ( it's using electric cauti something... To burn the meat off.. And yes I definitely can smell it) den maybe use a laser the next visit to smoothen the area... He told me i would have to come back in 2 weeks time fora reassessment.. And for the rest of the other smaller moleys on my face ( about 3 of them, he just used chemical... Also stingy, to put on the Area..) says there will be scabs formation and it will fall off In 2 days.. Il pray, pray pray!!

Total payments: $428 including gst. ( f/u consultation also included)

next time I will upload before during and after pic ya!
    Hihi!

Did your skin heal nicely? I had a mole removed years back and then it grew back into a flesh colour bump but with specks of dark pigmentation on it...

Seriously thinking if I should get it removed again but very scared will get a gaping hole in its place... What are your thoughts now 1-mth plus after your mole removal? Do share!

i don't trust DRX, the nurse quoted me $300 for mole removal, irregardless of the no. of moles removed. A cotter/podder mentioned she had removed at a flat rate of $300 too...

but when i went, the doctor quoted me $400 for 5 moles. He doesnt seem very interested in explaining the breakdown of cost etc... and its so commercialised, does not like a clinic at all..

and if its $400 for 5 moles, the price is not competitive at all, i can go to better clinics for the same price.

anyway, i went to another clinic in Orchard, had a total of 9 moles removed, at $300 + $60 consultation.

i have some moles on my face for the longest time, flat and size remains the same so i didnt touch it. but recently, abt 6 months ago i noticed there's a small black dot just at the edge of my mouth and its not noticeable at all so i leave it.. THEN, 2 weeks ago i woke up and saw 2 new blackhead on the nose so i squeezed 1 that's more 'matured', leaving the other one untouched until later but till now, i realized this untouched one does not look like a blackhead cuz its another small black dot.. tried squeezing to see if i am wrong and indeed, other than some blood nth comes out. Cfm another black dot.. ARGH! must be hereditary from my mom.

i suppose such small black dots wont go away right? you cant feel that since they're flat, but you definitely can see them. i feel like removing but im worried that these places are delicate and lasering will result in visible scars? something off topic, do you guys look at good/bad moles?

That's true, better go to the doctor.

I ever get my moles removed at one of those road stalls along temple st.

The lady used a kind of cream and it hurts. Plus she anyhow dot the cream on my mole. And anyhow price.

I went back again cos my moles didn't "fall off" which they supposed to be. And I have to endure the whole process again.

I regretted. However, going to these stalls are not my intention. I was kanna forced and do it immediately. The lady was so pushy.

    Do not get cheated, ladies.

Is it advisable to remove my mole that is in my ear, the tragus part? Its very big, about half the size of a red bean, and it's not flat too. thickness is like half of red bean's size too. It has been with me since i'm very young. i've always wanted to remove them, but many of my friends told me not to do it cos its in my ear, and it's dangerous. Maybe even doctors might not be able to remove them..sigh! although the mole doesn't show out, but still, i don't like it's existence there!

    Hello Shinystar,

Did you go to SGH on your own or you got referred there? I'm planning to remove this huge and protruding mole near my mouth.

    TIA~

I removed my mole at Joyce Lim's Skin & Laser Clinic & I must say they did a good job. Although service wise Dr. Lim was a little unfriendly but the girls were!

I removed my mole at the hospital this morning and thought I will share my experience here...

My mole is above my lips, protruding and about 2.5mm. After reading through different forums I decide to go to a doctor anyway.

I made an appointment with a doctor at SGH's Plastic surgery and Burn department yesterday and appointment was fixed for today.

After the consultation,my doctor decide that Laser will be the best option.I was opting for incision initially because I wanted a thorough removal of the mole and did not want a recurrence. He suggested laser instead and said laser removal can be as thorough as well and the scar will be like the very very faded zit mark that I have on my cheek instead of a straight line which may be more obvious. I thought about it and felt the former was better and decide to go ahead with the lasering.

I choose to proceed with the surgery immediately after the consultation as I did not want to wait and the procedure room was avaliable. During the procedure, I lay down on a bed much like the kind use for facial and my eyes were covered. The area around the mole was cleaned and I was given a LA jab at the mole area. After waiting for a very short while for the anaesthesia to kick in fully , the doctor proceed with the lasering. I was able to hear a 'zzzz' sound and there was a slight burnt smell. The doctor then apply a thick ointment on it. The entire process took less than ten minutes. The lasering it self just under one minute.

After the procedure, the nurse showed me my mole which they have collected and placed in a container full of a transparent liquid. They told me they will send it for a biopsy.

The service was quick and efficient. My doctor was great. He was patient and friendly and the nurse was pretty friendly and chatted with me to make me less nervous. The lasering was painless. The only part that stings is the jab.

I will suggest everyone to go to a doctor instead of beauty salons. My bill came up to about S$410. I was able to use my medisave and so paid only about S$120 in cash.

I do feel its pretty expensive, especially compared to what some salons charge or GP/estheticians charge, but thats because of the biospy. That alone cost about $100. The Consultation was $61.90, surgeon fee $40 and the rest was for the procedure. However, I would still opt to go to my doctor again even though its pricey. My doctor is a plastic surgeon and I was given good medical advice. I know i was in safe hand and that felt reassuring.

Hihi, I understand that this is quite an old thread. hope you still have the details though..
Could you give me the details of your SGH doctor you went to? you just made your appointment with SGH or you went to clinic / polyclinic for a referral first?
And also i did not see that mole removal procedure can be covered by medisave, is it automatically paid this way? or we have to request for partial payment by medisave?

    Thanks in advance!
