i'm using neutrogena on the spot acne treatment. so far it has been good in diminishing my pimples and acne but find it dehydrating for my dry skin.

sidetrack a little, sometimes pimples/acnes are caused by the shampoo you used. so if you are using a new shampoo and suddenly have an outbreak, especially at your forehead, there's a possibility that it's the shampoo problem.

My guess is that salicylic acid is just an exfoliator. BP (the active ingredient in Neotrogena On The Spot) is anti-bacterial AND a mild exfoliater. By the way, one of the reasons why pimple creams with BP tend to be more effective is because BP is one of the few ingredient thats is effective against the P. acne bacteria (the other being monocycline).

Currently, I'm using Benzac AC (from Guardian) which in the US, was/is (?) a prescription-only BP lotion. It did for me what two antibiotic courses failed to do--clear up my cystic acne.

More info at the American Academy of Familty Physicians

(Edited to correct information about BP)

What do you do when you feel an angry zit threatening to erupt?
After cleansing, dot bodyshop's evening primerose firming mask (dont know why it says firming, hte SA said its for deep cleansing) wash it off a while later and lightly moisturize

What do you do after you squeeze a 'ripened' zit? wash it throughly but with gentle cleanser, moisturize

What is the best pimple cream/gel you've ever tried?
I have given up on pimple cream..I find all of them (the ones i try) just dry out my skin and it never really brings my pimple "down"!

many of us dot deep cleansing mask onto the pimple but i read somewhere that this will make it worse because you are blocking the pimple :eh: anyone heard this too?

it helps to calm ur skin... i find it okay la... the reddess will go down slightly after the 1st day application. then applied for a few days and the reddess will go off.. this is what i observe for my case.
