Hi all, I have delivered by c-sect on thurs. Very busy and I cant help poor HB much as my wound is still healing and my movements are restricted.
Today is already 4th day and my milk isnt in yet. Quite worried. sigh....I have bleeding and very very swollen n sore nipples but I am still perservering. Breast is harder and sometimes have some feelings of tightening. Really hope it will flow soon without much complication.
Didnt expect there's so much pain to deal with...was quite overwhelmed on the 2nd and 3rd day.
Dozalot: Take care, keep your wound clean and dry and dont lift stuff. Let HB handle, soon you will get to do it all. BB on formula now? Which one is he taking?
Congrats Dozalot!
Don't worry too much about the milk flow as there will only be colostrum in the first few days. The more you latch your baby, the faster the milk will comes inSore and bleeding nipples are mostly likely due to baby incorrect latch. Did you get the nurse to check if you are latching baby correctly during your stay at the hospital? The tightening feeling that you experience could be due to the let down effect.
Yes there is no problem in latching on. BB latches on fast and suckles well. We both know when incorrect cos I will feel uncomfortable and he will unlatch himself. The nurse said I have extremely sensitive nipples which is very rare, and most people would have given up by now. I'd anticipated this problem long ago as I have big nipples with small aerola. Now its swollen, its worse...only comfort I get is that bb can latch on well, thats 1 problem down.
I am massaging my breast whenever I am free. Hopefully no major problems when milk comes in.
Dozalot, dun worry about formula feeding him. When Claire was hospitalised for jaundice, she was given formula milk and i also expressed breast milk for her to drink while she was hospitalised.
Sore or bleeding nipples are due to incorrect latching. So, i will suggest u express the breastmilk now so that ur nipples will heal first and once they re healed... Latch your baby on again. That's what i did for Claire as she even drunk "strawberry milk" as my nipples bled then. Hope this helps!![]()
You can try to apply some breastmilk on your sore nipple as it will help them to heal faster.
Congratulations! Rest well and your wound will heal soon.![]()
Don't worry too much about your milk coming in - just nurse as much as you can - demand =supplyTry not to supplement, if possible. Also, it'd help to learn to nurse lying down.
As for the pain, nursing will help to contract the womb so you might feel some pain there but look at it as good pain.Take care and enjoy your baby!

I think the soreness is from pumping...when i direct latch on, not sore.
Dozalot: We were cup feeding at the beginning too...fear of nipple confusion, and same as you, pouring everywhere, tough on bb.
We switched to bottle within the first week and my gal still is able to latch on so no worries. Direct latch if you hate pumping like me.
Littlelambie: Woah, you can open a BM shop boy!
Azure: You too...open shop...so lucky!
By the way, your bbs sure make me worry about my girl...she's almost 2months yet only takes abt 60ml of milk...and her intervals are 4-6hrs!
satindoll: wow a 2 wk old drinks more than my 2 month old goodness this gurl is makin me worry
I just did a stock take on my milk stock......
I've 152 bottles of each containing 80ml of milk.I myself got a shock too. No wonder I needed another freezer. *faints*.

Yay Dozalot .. so happy to hear your milk has come in. Ya, I also dislike pumping. As a mom who's tried BOTH, I can tell you that direct nursing is gentler on the nipples. And it seems to encourage milk production better .. it could just be MEbut nurse when u can .. it helps.
wow, LittleLambie, you can open a MILK SHOP ... hahaha-- SOOO SOLID!!
