Default Getting back in shape post pregnancy

I've given birth almost 3 months ago, talk about a rude shock when after birth my tummy still looked as large as before I gave birth. I look at my old clothes and sigh. I wonder when I'll be bale to fit into them. Do any of the other mummies feel that way too?

    *raising my hand*

Actually I lost the preggie weight within 4 to 6 weeks after birthed. But then I didn't watch my diet, so did put back on some weight afterall.

I'm super lazy when it comes to exercise, so right now I just watch my diet and eat wisely, and avoid fattening food as much as I can. Haven't really seen drastic weight loss yet, but I feel better mentally. lol. Make sense? lol.

Yup. When I was pregnant I basically ate what I wanted so its really difficult to change that habit. I love sweet stuff so much. I get up in the middle of the nights to feed baby and thats when I always feel peckish. Been trying to jog but its not regular. <sigh>

Hey mogmick, your progress is very fast!!!

For me, losing the weight not so difficult, toning my body may be more difficult. Plus last month of pregnancy I accumulated lotsa stretch marks. I know they will never disappear but I'm waiting for the purple-ish marks to go away.

I put on abt 20 kgs when I was pregnant 4 years ago. I have another 4 kgs to shed in order to get back my pre-pregnancy figure. I guess we have to watch what we eat & do some simple excercise if we seriously want to be slim & tone. hmm, easier said than done. I am still 'crawling' to regain my weight.

Me! I put on 12 Kg when I was pregnant and now I still have 7 Kg to lose

I also got a rude shock when I saw that my tummy was still big after delivery - about the size when I was 5-6 months pregnant

I tried on some of my work clothes the other day to see what I could wear when I go back to work and none of the pants fit I couldn't even pull some of them up because my hips have become so much bigger, not to mention the waist. Sigh. I wonder when I can get back to my pre-pregnancy shape. Might have to enlist the help of a beauty salon if necessary

hi ariel, don't be dismay. it really takes time to regain our prenatal shape. If you have the budget to enlist the help of beauty salon, by all means go ahead if you can tolerate their hard sellings. I personally went to one 4 yrs ago but was not able to fully regain back my shape after spending close to $2K.

Thanks bebelatte Will actually try going to a gym first before enlisting a beauty salon. But then again, I have to first find time to do that, not to mention the money too

    Hey Ariel,

I have about 6 kg to go. I was considering slimming salons until I read up the threads on them. They don't seem that promising after all. I agree with what bebelatte said dieting and exercising is the cheapest and most effective way.

So how do you guys console yourselves? For me I went out to get some clothes to feel good about myself.

I lost 8kg in 1 wk, from pre-delivery weight. But tummy still very big abt 7mths preggie look (soft instead of hard cos no baby inside hehe). Very strange feeling to be so preggie looking when not pregnant!
I'm watching my diet but not depriving myself- I just eat lesser than pregnancy days, and since under confinement (needing to be around for baby at home) I can't really go gorge on junk food outside.
My mum cooks simple nutritious dishes, I allow myself the 1 or 2 piece of chocolate, durian (where previously I would finish 1 whole box of durian on my own) and I take alot of fluids (water, red date water) as well as cranberry juice (prevent UTI) and yogurt (prevent thrush). I replace rice totally with a small potato (which has good potassium etc) cos I read somewhere reducing carbs can promote weight-loss, but it can also reduce milkflow... so it's a compromise there.

I'm not optimistic about my tummy getting back in shape in near future though, cos c-section must delay massage and any exercise. And after the initial rapid loss, weight bound to stagnate.

I had a c-section too. I had preeclampsia on my eight month and had to delivery early. We were going for a natural delivery but half way through baby was in distress.

I'm doing stomach crunches. Not too many just 10 at a time, but then again its not really consistent. Very worried about the scar, heard so many horror stories about it bursting and having to sew it back together again. I had enough pain.

Bursting? *dead faints* I had my dressing removed today and saw the cut for 1st time. Eeks. Not as bad as I imagined (I was thinking zig-zag sewing along a line but no, it's internal stitching so can't see sewing, just 1 straight line). Still freaky though.

Hi majacqueline, the best way to cheer myself is just look at dear baby and the next best way is shopping. I am a shoe, bag lover so gonna go out there and see what I have been missing out these few months. Plus, eyeing on getting skincare and cosmetics and going online to buy some stuff for myself and baby.

Same! I have another 4 kg to lose -back to pre-preggy weight after my 1st baby but if were to go back to my pre,pre-preggy size (before baby1) it will be 7kg!!

Sigh.. dont think i can lose 7 kgs.. but now looking foward to losing 4kg first! However, i don't control my eating though.. coz the more i control the more i'll eat. So now sticking to exercising.. Hope to lose before new year.. dying to buy pretty clothes again!

Btw, i dont buy clothes these days coz i'll end up with Size L and not looking nice. So sticking to shoes, accessories and handbags shopping..
