Hello Babes!
Am considering to DIY gelish. Wanna check with the experts here if the UV lamp (which is said to be suitable to cure UV gel, UV top coat and UV products) suitable to cure gelish? Also, do I have to file the nail bed to make it rough before applying the foundation coat? What kind of file is the most suitable?
Many thanks in advance!!![]()
I read that only licensed nail techs are allowed to purchase Gelish in the USA. Have they relaxed the rules? I would advise that you attend a course or at least learn from a nail tech as this could potentially harm your nails if you do not have the proper product knowledge
i bought my uv lamp $30+ at bugis street lvl 2
the shop's name is called enamour .
you can go and have a look (:
Can we do extensions with gelish ?
I Thinking of doing my own gelish too.any idea where to get it including the removal and uv light?
My dear, whats the WATTS for your UV lamp?
Many thanks,
lindaypp

Gelish has a soft gel product meant to give flat nails some curve and to extend the nails a little but not for full fledged extenstion
best regards

evelyn - it's the first time i heard gelish can give curve and do extension.... which brand are you referring to???
chanel90 - after getting acrylic or gel extension done, gelish (gel polish) can be applied over like ordinary lacquer polishes. gel polish however dries completely once done and also last much longer.
Lacquer polishes belongs to history....

Yup! UV lamp will do. It takes about 90 to 120 seconds if I'm not wrong. LED lamp is a more expensive alternative but will be able to harden the gelish in about 10 to 20 seconds
From what I know, the filing is a preference. I've seen gelish last for 1 month without filing and have seen them drop within a week. If you really wanna be on the safer side, just use 80/80 file will do. You don't really want to damage your nail too much. (Imagine all the buffing we do each time we get a manicure and you are gonna add on to it D
Gelish is basically a soft gel, that means it doesn't provide support (you cant do extensions but it makes your nails look a little longer, maybe abt 0.01mm?).Only sculpture or hard gel can really provide the support for extensions. I haven tried it as an overlay for nail tip extensions but it won't last long i guess.
I hope this helps D:!
