GEL Nails

any cotters are having gel nails?
i *** of doing gel nails for long term cause it's really beautiful and hard enough.

can anyone who has done before or is currently having gel nails advise me what are the pros and cons?

someone can post pictures too?

hi dear, gel nails isn't as hard as acrylic.
gel nails are generally more shiny than acrylic though - well, at least that's what a lot of girls are telling me.. hehe..

Hi missixty,

Pros: Lasts much longer than normal polish, hardier, can do nail art. I love it for toes cos it can last for almost 2 months!!
Cons: More expensive, takes longer to do (abt 1-2 hrs), sucks when it starts lifting and if you peel it off, nail is in "bad" condition with a lot of ridges

Gel nails are indeed very nice, but after removing the gel nails, my nails are in pretty bad shape...the nails become very thin and easily chipped/peeled off....i'm still nursing my weak nails now...

Yup... mine look so awful now without any polish or gel. Can see a lot of ridges. It becomes a very expensive hobby

base gel or some call it a clear gel, it's applied using a gel brush-

chubbyvoo, do you do ur own nails? my friend mentioned to me that cant do own nails, must let professional do them..acrylic and gel, which one is better? are infills the same for both, but using different material only?
i did mine in tpe,they use powder form, i think that is acrylic right?

i do my own nails when occassion calls for.

can do own nails, but materials not cheap, without proper guiding, you might have to trial and error/damage your nails.

acrylic and gel are equally good if properly done. yes, infill means fill up the gap where natural nails expose, so they are the same.

powder + stinky liquid (monomer) = acrylic nails

so u do urself is acrylic / gel nails? is it easy to do or need to go for courses? i saw the manicurist do..seems quite easy..but not sure..where do u go buy the materials at? i read at some thread at shop at amk or smthg?

i do gel/acrylic on myself and as well as other ppl for 4 years, i had taken a few formal courses from time to time...
it's not difficult, just need to know some theory and some practise with guidience. i hop around a couple of places to get my stuffs. you can try bugis village 2nd floor, a couple of shops selling some nail stuffs =)

i have a friend who did her gel nails recently...i find it so nice! so im planning to do also... but trying to find a cheap one..as i have budget....

if i buy those materials... am i able to master it online?
