    Default Removing gel/acrylic etc

I went to the salon to remove my gel nails, because they started to look off, and they were breaking a lot (probably from the water). So the manicurist filed them a bit and she removed them by ripping them off.

It felt a little weird, and she told me that I should have a regular manicure with nail color so they will "hold better" and they look better as well.

Was she right? Is it ok that I painted them immediately or should I wait for a few weeks until they are stronger?
    TIA!

I don't really understand your question. How long did your gel nails last? When I removed my gel nails at chubbyvoo's place last month, I went to paint them right after I got back.

I had them in June, and every 3 weeks I was having the gap filled (regular maintenance), and the weeks in the between I was having regular manicures. I just came back from vacation and I was swimming everyday, and most were lifted and started breaking, so I decided to remove them because I like short nails during Fall & Winter.

My question is was it ok that the technician just ripped them off? Was she supposed to use another method?
Is is ok to apply varnish on nails that thin and weak???

if the gel is already lifting, it's ok to rip/pluck them off since they are not so attached to nails already. but if done too forcefully, layers of natural nail may be removed too. the nail tech have to be gentle and patient.

    hard gel - file off
    soft gel - soak off

infact, it's better to apply varnish/strengthener to thin and weak nails so that they are not directly contact to water or any harsh chemicals which may further soften the nails.

depending on what brand of soft gel you are using. certain soft gel needs soak off solution of the same brand. acetone you have to get from nail salons or local nail product suppliers, maybe bugis village 2nd floor, but they normally comes in gallons.

evontehh, yes they will get stronger just trim the baffed parts that are thin, and the healthy nail will grow eventually.

I had hard gel, so I guess the filing was the right thing to do...

    Hi all

Wondering whats the difference between soft and hard gel nails..

Mine is hard but when applied was liquid. i have half of it still stuck on my nail unable to get it off. And i am lazy to go to salon..

Any advice ? Can i just rip it off? i am afraid my real nail will be "disfigured".
