I went to the salon to remove my gel nails, because they started to look off, and they were breaking a lot (probably from the water). So the manicurist filed them a bit and she removed them by ripping them off.
It felt a little weird, and she told me that I should have a regular manicure with nail color so they will "hold better" and they look better as well.
Was she right? Is it ok that I painted them immediately or should I wait for a few weeks until they are stronger?

I don't really understand your question. How long did your gel nails last? When I removed my gel nails at chubbyvoo's place last month, I went to paint them right after I got back.
I had them in June, and every 3 weeks I was having the gap filled (regular maintenance), and the weeks in the between I was having regular manicures. I just came back from vacation and I was swimming everyday, and most were lifted and started breaking, so I decided to remove them because I like short nails during Fall & Winter.
My question is was it ok that the technician just ripped them off? Was she supposed to use another method?
Is is ok to apply varnish on nails that thin and weak???
if the gel is already lifting, it's ok to rip/pluck them off since they are not so attached to nails already. but if done too forcefully, layers of natural nail may be removed too. the nail tech have to be gentle and patient.
hard gel - file off
soft gel - soak off
infact, it's better to apply varnish/strengthener to thin and weak nails so that they are not directly contact to water or any harsh chemicals which may further soften the nails.
i use pure acetone to soak them off right ?
where can i get pure acetone and how much?
TIA
depending on what brand of soft gel you are using. certain soft gel needs soak off solution of the same brand. acetone you have to get from nail salons or local nail product suppliers, maybe bugis village 2nd floor, but they normally comes in gallons.
my nails are so soft and thin and weak after i've removed my gel extension. is that normal? they break after a day i removed my gel! my nails are weak to begin with, now it seems so much weaker! will it get stronger back?
evontehh, yes they will get stronger just trim the baffed parts that are thin, and the healthy nail will grow eventually.
I had hard gel, so I guess the filing was the right thing to do...
where to get the solution to remove the acrylic nails besides bugis?
want to remove mind since one of the acrylic toe nail came off, but lazy go to the salon..
U can get it from far east 4th floor. They do sell solution to soak ff the acrylic and gel.Cost about $10 if im not wrong cos i used to buy from them. Its still cheaper than u go to the salon.Just came bk from Hong Kong and their gel nails only cost u less than $50 Sin dollar and even include the service of soak off next time.So cheap!!!
Hi all
Wondering whats the difference between soft and hard gel nails..
Mine is hard but when applied was liquid. i have half of it still stuck on my nail unable to get it off. And i am lazy to go to salon..
Any advice ? Can i just rip it off? i am afraid my real nail will be "disfigured".
