    Do you bring your own nail tools to manicure/pedicure?

    As above?

    I'll be going for a mani/pedi session soon and my mom advised me to bring my own tools as she got nail fungus from a nail salon...

    So what do I need to get? I only know of cuticle cutter.
    Can anyone advice?

    If you want to bring your own tools, you will need the following items:
    * Cuticle Pusher
    * Cuticle Cutter
    * File
    * Foot File

    You can look for rubbing alcohol that contain 70% of alcohol from watson or guardian.
    If the foot sink that soak your feet is not properly wash, you can request them to wash and ask them to spray the rubbing alcohol n clean it...

    With the rubbing alcohol, even you dont have the tools, you can ask them to use your rubbing alcohol to clean their tools before they use on you.
    But that may not be 100% effective to avoid fungus.

    I don't bring tools to the salon for mani/pedi. Usually the manicurists will sanitise the tools before using.

    I didn't bring my own tools, because I don't have a set. I think it's best to bring your own, because my friend just got quite serious nail problem which isn't just fungus alone, after asking her some questions about personal hygiene and others, the doctors highly suspect she got it from the nail salon. My friend is pretty upset over it, as she had always been telling us not to save the money, always visit a reputable nail salon for better hygiene.

    Depend on how you look at it... A reputable nail salon could be their service very good. But when you talk about hygiene, unless you see them sanitise the tools infront of you... So bring your own tools is still the safer way...

    You can check with any nail salon as see if they sell you a full set of tools...
    All you need are
    * Cuticle Pusher
    * Cuticle Cutter
    * File
    * Foot File

    check out polished hand and foot spa, new manicure salon near siglap centre, along east coast road.

    Their unique point is their hygiene standards because they are very particular about it. The owners have got special systems of nail files buffers and foot files which are one time use and their metal implement are all sterilized with medical grade sterilization so its really clean…best of all their service and skill is great and the environment really clean, chic and airy.

    Reasonable too, they have year long specials which change every 2 weeks and all their specials are super good value, great for these tough times!

    their website: www.polished.com.sg

    Not to scare u chances of getting AIDS is also possible if implements are not sterilise properly. So it's advisable to have ur own personal tools.

    Come to think of it, its quite true.. Its so scary..the other day when I visited Color Zone at Junction 8, I think they did not even sterlise the foot sink, and I did not check if they did sterilise the tools before using on me.. oh gosh, if the previous customers got aids.. then there is a possibility of infecting.....

    think its make sense to be more careful with the manicure salons we go.. the manuicurists have to practise good hygiene.. think its best to bring our own tools in the future...

    I didn't think so much about them not sterlising the tools. Cause i trust them for doing so. Ya agree with ParisMilan, abit too troublesome to bring those tools.

    I am now BIG big big fan of Misayaki Salon!!! (a new one found in Boon Keng area). NEar my home..........
    Learnt of it from a friend's blog and they are really particular about hygiene plus good quality

    I want to recommend www.misayaki.com

    All customer have brand new files & a white colour sponge-like (not sure what it is call technically) for their nail services.
    They even seperate my hands & feets files and give it to me after the service.

    I see that all walk in customer got brand new files to use.....

    They got a sanitising box too and customer can get one set of personalised kit FREE if they sign up as member. Think the best part is that they offer to keep my personal set in the salon.
    So.....I actually sign up for membership for that.
    Now I can just pop by after work without need to bring my manicure kit

    Which they dun charge very expensive too, about $45 (mani+pedi)

    Cheers to no more fungus spread and infections!!!!!!!!!!
