for home based, we need to go toilet to wash off the scrub?

whereas for actual salon no need?

i used to go to one salon whereby they corner a section out of a facial shop and whenever i do scrub, she will use wet towel to wipe and wash off. i dont need to go toilet..

    Default Bad Home-Based Experience

Dear cotters, just to share a home-based experience. I went to a home-based for my spa mani & pedi session ($60) at Clementi. I was actually at my grandma's house then and since I was bored, might as well try this home-based I found on internet. I text this lady and asked her if she's free on the same day for spa mani & pedi and what products she's gonna use for the spa. I waited for about 3hrs later, she called and I was told the products used during the spa are solely OPI. And I thought I really got a great deal!

When I reached the place, it smells like someone's been smoking in the hosue. I think she noticed that I was offended by the smoke, she quickly switched on the fan. I did the nail svcs in the living room with a large TV. During the spa process, I noticed that the spa products used by her are not OPI's (St Ives Apricot scrub, Jergens body lotion), except that the only OPI products used in the spa is the OPI mask (the greenish one with menthol for cooling). Somehow I felt kinda cheated. I mean if you're not using OPI products for treatment, just say so. Ok. Now comes the polish part. The OPI polishes are very limited. I chose a brown shade for my pedi and mani.

After the session, she started her hard selling on packages. Initially, I told her that I'm not interested in getting any packages, she insisted and loaded me with all the package menus. Then I told her that I seldom do nails and I don't live around Clementi area. She insisted that I get her packages, saying that there's no expiry date and I can come whenever I am free. I am the soft-hearted type and was not firm enough to reject, and since the package deal is not bad ($300 for 5 spa mani & Pedi with 1 free spa nail session), I caved in. I'm not sure if this is considered cheap, as compared to other home-based salons. I've been to some home-based where one of the HB salon cost $50/- for spa mani & pedi and uses Nailtek & Cuccio products for spa.

Just before I forked out my money, she was preparing this package card for me. To my astonishment, she wrote an expiry date on the card, which is 6 months later! I told her that I wanted to sign the package because there is no expiry date. She then told me in chinese "Aiya, you just come once a month. Sometimes can even do more than once in a month. 6 months should be more than enough." I was so frustrated then. I explained to her that I don't live in clementi and don't go there so often. I was thinking if I really need a spa mani / pedi, I could've gone to the HB salon that is just a few blocks from where I'm living and charges cheaper, using quality products.

Anyway, I paid the $60 and left angrily. At that time, I don't even care if the polish is dry. Luckily my pedi is safe but a few nicks on my mani.

I am so frustrated then. But am very sure I'm not going back there again.

I'm not saying that all home-based nail svcs are bad. Just that this is the first time I met with this kind of hard selling of nail packages at home. Want to rant a bit =x I've tried some others that are good =)

    Hi Guys

I was wondering if anyone of you knows of any home based/free lance manicurists that will come to your place to do the mani/pedi services? I'm currently confined to bed for a few weeks and want to do something to 'perk' myself up, make myself feel better. Would appreciate any response or recommendations :D

I recommend one at Punggol area. Newly set up if im not wrong, a home based nail salon. Very cheap! I did classic manicure pedicure for only $36! Cheapest rate i ever found le. Got massage and everything included. Very good service and the manicurist very friendly too. I remember gel extensions all just about $80! Other services include waxing and all that. Quite worth it.
