I never knew nail packages were so expensive. When my lady boss told me she paid 3k plus for her package (includes paraffin or something), I thought she was BS-ing me. I've never been to Nail Palace and after reading this thread, I don't think I'll ever step in. Weak people like me always end up being a target of those hard sellers.

Me, myself am a manicurist. & runs a home-based salon. I believe in spoiling myself & giving myself a treat once in a while.
And this is how it goes...

I was shopping at Tiong Bahru Plaza & I chanced upon Nail Palace. I haven't done my nails for a long long time so I thought why not pamper myself today?
I went in, and asked for acrylic nails and the charges. I couldn't remember the exact charges the lady qouted me. (but all I could remember was, definitely more than $100)
The manicurist then asked me if I wanted to do a classic manicure as well to trim off the cuticles, and I agreed. The process was pretty painful, & I had to bear it. =(
Here comes the acrylic extension part. I did sculptured acrylic anyway. Lady asked me if I wanted it long & I pointed to her how long I wanted it to be as there were guide lines on the sculpture foil.
Here's her reply, "Oh! This length? This length must charge you additional $"
-.-' again, I don't remember how much she told me, but I **** care and told her to go ahead.
Two times, I said "OK" & gave in to her. So I supposed in her heart, she must be thinking this customer OK OK, maybe package also OK. There! She started to push me the packages available. I showed her no interest. But she just continued... zzz
Guess what's next? The manager, (in bright pink jacket) came and sit next to her & grabbed my other hand. Now, I have 2 DIFFERENT manicurists doing acrylic extensions. EACH TO A HAND! holy ****! How can 2 DIFFERENT person produce the same work? I kept mum & gave them a very forceful smile. This time, imagine 2 girls talking to you about packages!
Acrylic is done! Next, fancy french nail painting! (I chose bright pink base with silver glitter tips) this time, she did not mention how much & I got so annoyed with 2 women talking about packages, I did not ask her too. Seriously, she can't paint! Her painting & french is way too thick, & I had to pretend as if I was very happy with her work. Fact is, I just want her to finish up whatever she is doing & leave! (it was almost time to meet my friends for dinner)
When everything's done, while drying my nails... here comes the pink coat MANAGER again. -.-'
She kept asking me to buy the $500 package and they will throw in free value or something. I didn't want to & stood firm, shook my head. In fact, I had wanted to tell her off for such a lousy job done. (& I seriously wanted to tell her I personally do nails)
I kept telling her I am not interested in the packages, but she doesn't give up! From there, she introduced me another package. She asked me to buy the $300 package! OMG! She took out the calculator & calculated my total expenses for the horrible looking acrylic extension. WHOPPING $199! *** I seriously do not know how did it snowballed to $199. She told me extra charges for this, this, this, that, that, that & I can't be bothered to look at her punching the numbers. I told her to just take my card & charge me $199. She doesn't want to! She kept talking about the $300 package.
"Today you do $199, top up another $101, you get free value. you don't want?"
(in my heart, **** it man! such a lousy job done at $199! I seriously could have gone to other nail salons and spent the $199 doing acrylics, with many different colors and fancy 3D nail art on ALL 10 fingers! For **** I sign a package with you!?)
Eventually, she stopped after I stared at her & showed her my frustration.
And my super thick polished nails were ruined within an hour! (even though I had quick dry top coat on!)
I was so annoyed, disappointed, & angry that throughout my dinner, I complained to my friends & showed them my $199 nails together with the charged receipt.
Shock was written all over their face.

A lesson learnt, & an expensive one. (I seriously am not trying to bad mouth any nail salon, but I am speaking from what I have truly experienced at NP)
Moral of the story: "Try at your own risk."

& yes! I forgot to mention... my acrylic nails started to lift on the 3rd day. thanks to pink coat manager!

terrible nail palace. apparently, my friend had made appt at 8pm for two of us, which i will be utilizing her package. i reached at 815 and i told them my friend's name. all of them gave me a bewildered look, as if no appt had been made. i sat down and told them we wanna do manicure and pedicure. she said we can only choose one service cos they had no time. no time? they have more than 8 people there almost doing nothing. nevermind. told them i will be using my friend's package. all of them gave me blank looks again. the package is transferrable what, can't i use it?

i did pedicure and i could see that the lady is very half hearted. she did not use the pedicure sponge for me and merely used a tiny fan to blow dry my nails. can't believe i am paying for such mediocre service.

usually lateness by 15mins still acceptable. from my past experience working in a nail salon.

Classic = 20 for mani 25 for pedi
Gel = 60
Gel extension = 80
Soft Gel = 40 for mani 50 for pedi

Just to share my horrendous experience with Nail Palace this pm. I had bought a package with them couple of years ago but seldom go to do my nails; i like this gal @ tanjong pagar but usually go to the Tiong Bahru br instead as they usually have more vacancies.
So i went today & this china manicurist Rebecca (R) was doing my pedicure & another gal was doing my fingernails. From the moment she begin my pedicure R started selling me package. First she asked if I wanted to buy the tablet (which I already have) from TB br as well and i said no. Then she started telling me to purchase their treatment coz i have hardened skin on my feet. Well like who doesn't?? n anyway it was so ex i said no. I told them also that I scrape off the dead skin myself as I have the pedegg @ home n they started telling me that the pedegg is no good as it wld only make the skin become harder. The manicurist was ok but R was super pushy.

After i rejected her offer of treatment, she started sayin that I *** take care of my feet now or else i will spend a lot more on treatments in future... n seriously... i think my dead/hard skin on my skin have lessened since i used the pedegg but i didnt wana argue with her. So she started promoting a pedi scrub & cream. The scrub sounded good but I had to buy them 2gether which was... get this... $238!!! Oh but i get free file... but so what? It is like daylight robbery. I immediately said it was too ex & that i wasn't interested. R then made a show to go 2 the manager & came back to tell me those were e last 2 bottles & the manager wasn't v keen to sell them to me cheap but she managed to convince the manager to sell me @ $172. I was like... WTH n told her NO, i wasn't interested as it is still ex. But she kept going on and on and say how good e product is, n how after 1 time i will see the difference... i told her again no n *** i have already overspent. & she kept on going saying i *** start taking care now and blah blah blah... i was q pissed already so i told her to stop as I was already v irritated.

U would think she would stop but she went on saying... no i m just trying to tell u coz e product is really v gd... FED UP i stood up n said I didn't want a mani/pedi anymore. I then went to the manager (Yoyo who has been the manager there for ages!) n told her to let me sign my card and SHE actually deducted my package for my unfinished service!!! what's more there was no apology @ all!! & when I asked her how they could condone such attitude she simply kept quiet! She didnt even try to pacify me when I asked her for the main off number!! & R could still haughtily tell me her name is REBECCA!!!

What crap service!!! Yes they are v pushy but i have never met someone as pushy as her. And when I told them e other time I asked about the saw off for my gel nails & was quoted $70 they insisted that the price was wrong. I told them no need to argue coz that is what I was told... @ both the TB br & the Simei branch...

So everyone out there.... Dun ever buy pkg fr them... pushy n horrid service!

I totally agree what u said!!!!As we know that their job have to sale packages and product,but cant too pushy!!
Recently near my place just open one nail shop which is very good service,name as Nail Bar.Located at cluny court,walking distance from botanic garden MRT, inside the Cluny Court.(first floor)They have 2manicurist right now.Why don't go there take a look...^^
