Default Nail Palace @ AMK Hub

hey galz... went to nail palace @ amk hub today...first time to nail palace...

the place there was very big and spacious..alot of seats...and the chair was very comfortable...and they are quite hygenic..they will wrap a plastic bag over the sink first before putting in water and soaking ur leg in...so i suppose its like for single use....choice of colour are not bad as they have quite a large range...they told me got 500 colours, but bcoz they are newly open, not all colours are there..prob abt 200 colours...but guess, its still quite good variety to chose from...manicurist quite friendly, but i find her too too too chatty...like keep talking and talking to u...hhahahahaha...non stop...lol...

anyway, what i dislike abt that place is that they do alot alot of hard selling!!! while they do ur mani/ pedi, they will say things like ah ur nail got fungus etc etc..and say ur feet bery dry..gotta buy and apply cream or cuticle oil...etc etc etc...then after the pedi, they will usher u to a place to dry ur nails...clever move man!! then down there they will hard sell u those packages!!! this lady that did my nails even wanna sell me a $1200 package lohz!!!then when i reject, she come out with another type of pakage then another package..then another package...until she listed abt 6 types of packages lohz!!! then i got so pissed off, i told her i have other commitment and i dun have any plans to sign up any packages at the moment!! after all the calculations, the prices for their each mani/ pedi session is actually the normal prices that other salon can offer...some salon even cheaper then the package prices that they offer...what is this??and when i finally can push all the package away, i went to pay up for my pedi, then after that, another lady came up and hardsell to me again!! OMG!!!! she say its oki that i dun get packages, y dun i buy another 2 session and try out the services here again?? OMG!!!

In conclusion, the painting is alrite nahz..average nahz..bcoz on leg so even got paint out, its definately not going to be obvious, then the moisturisor they use not good lohz..after i leave the place, for like 3 hrs, i can feel the sticky feeling on my leg lohz!!means its totally not absorbed at all!!!! other then the location and the comfy enviroment, i dun think i will even go back again!!!unless i am really (x10000000000000000000000000000000000) desperate for pedi/mani...overall rating, 3/10...

    One word - sucks.

Seriously. I think it's the worst I have ever visited. And I'm talking about Tampines outlet. My bad since I was there just to accompany my friends. I tried only the treatment and left my toenails dry. I have never had troubles with my nails but after visiting them, I have toes-mare!!! It happened last yr but I still feel angry thinking about my experience.

yep i used to remember doing an express mani/pedi there.. i opted for french mani on my fingers and sadly, the job was very badly done! the white tip was crooked and unevenly coated and my nail shape was buffed unevenly.

alot of hardselling involved as well.. but the manicurist in charge shut up after i ignored her after all her pushselling.

french mani costs an additional $8, whereas normally the others charge $5.

tried the one at hougang mall.....thought it is nice since the place forever packed with ppl...
their skills isn't that fantastic, some corners weren't even nicely coloured, not very balanced...i bought their top & base coat, each cost $38... =_= ex ***...forever hard sell...i still have some remaining sessions...

i'd rather go to the one at amk, the usual one i patronise...not the nail palace, it's another one..

i think it will depend on the girl doing for you, i have experience both nice and not so nice manicurists. I had one who cut my cuticle until it bleed and was so painful. After *** still had the cheek to sell me package! I told myself not to come back again. But then i still had some manicure left. so i went back to finish the package, and the very next time, the manicurist who did for me was meticulous and very careful when i told her that I had bad experience there. from then on, I keep going back to the same girl and even signed another package with them. So i guess there are good manicurists in nail palace (tampines)

Yup agree with you Dekora. One of the manicurist there is really loud and pushy, and she did a horrible job on me. Twice. lol. So now i make it a point to make an appointment.

Who's the one that you always go to?

    hah..
i know!! those girls were really pushy in selling the package, and i eventually gave in because the mani and pedi i received wasnt that bad.. it wasn't a particularly bad experience in terms of the service la.. i was at the jurong point outlet and the manicurist was angel, while the girl doing my pedi was connie... they were rather chatty in chinese..though i couldnt really understand them entirely..motormouth and all.. so they didnt push all those funny creams or pills and whatnots..
probably my inability to comprehend them stopped them from pushing the extras..what's good about them is their huge nail polish range..that was one of the plus points to me..

so i got the 600sgd package... 10 classic mani and 10 classic pedi with 20 scrubs.. minus the first time.. i'm left with 9 mani 9 pedi and 18 scrubs.. the problem is.. i'd be going overseas to study soon and i wanna use up the package asap.

so if any of you babes wanna me use it up.. i'm letting go at 1 mani and 1 pedi plus 2 scrubs at $50...negotiable..just wanna use up asap.. so if you are interested and could just feign ignorance to their hard sell tactics.. do drop me an email.. lilprawndumpling@yahoo.com.sg

*also to note that i have a waxing package credit with strip! that i'd like to use up as well...

i hope i'm not breaking any rules in posting this to get help to complete these packages. Sorry if i did.

went to the one at AMK hub... service wasn't up to my expectation and they got limited range of nail color imo... they don't even have e latest OPI colors...

buffing and shaping skills cannot make it too!! and i think i paint better than them...

i want to give raves to nail palace too.. but after so many trips to different outlets, the result and verdict is still the same

i went to my manicurist (at pretticure) for redoing of my nails and she laughed at my french manicure that the nail palace (tiongbahru) had done.

she repainted them for me and i'd dare to say that her skills are so much better!

I've tried Nail Palace at Tampines and also at The Bencoolen. All I can say is that they are really pushy in getting you to sign up for their package! My experience at Tampines was last year Oct and I requested for Mani, Pedi as well as nail art on 4 nails. That cost me SGD 88 and 2 hours. The nails were done nicely, so was the nail art, but the attitude of the girls... Seems like there is some kind of rivalry amongst themselves, and they have cliques, which caused me to wait for at least 45 mins before someone did the nailart on me... Plus the place is really small and not so comfy... Not going back again, ever...

    akaysha:

thats right, they are always vying for commission. there was once i did my acrylic extensions at nail palace (boon lay) and the girls are all clamouring to do it for me. however when i went back for a simple express mani, they pushed me from one manicurist to another. it made me feel unwelcomed

no wonder my polish was done so badly.

their acrylic extensions are very pricey imo compared to Pretticure.

a full set of acrylic at NP is about $120, additional charges for nailart applies. Gel extensions are pricier too, at about $150 per set.

At pretticure (the one i always frequent), both gel and acrylic extensions are only $90 for a full set. havent tried doing the extensions there, so i cant comment on their skills..

Wow $8 for a "pill" to soak your feet is really expensive. My goodness, I am charging only $2 for this pedi frizz in my home salon.

dear gals, I would like to share my bad experience with Nail Palace that i had yesterday.
a wk ago, I got their promotion leaflet on the streets. On the leaflet it says $19 for french classic manicure and $29 for french classic pedicure. So i called the Bencoolen branch to make a reservation. On the phone, i specifically ask the gal TWICE (who doesn't know english, in fact all their staff there dunno english we subsequently found out) if that $29 is for french pedi, she said yes, so i bk for me and my fren.
When we got to the shop, firstly me and my fren were shocked that the place look cheap and mass mkt type. The aircon was down, they use many fans. They use a new plastic sheet to cover the basin after each customer, so u soak ur legs in the plastic which feel eek. But we though maybe coz it's cheaper that's why the shop was no frills.
The gals asked whether we want bath salt tablet to soak our legs. I thought that sounded wierd. Isn't it default that you put it in? i mean my experience with all my previous pedi in other places, the salt is a default thing. So i asked, "isn't that incl?". she said : "no, that is chargeable additional 10 dollars". i was shocked. But i just said no, i dun want then.
Next, they pass us the color palette to choose. I was wondering how come they show me all the colors when i asked to do french pedi. So i asked, this loud gal called Wendy retorted that the offer is only for classic pedi not french. Then i went "i specifically ask ur gal who ans the call whether that is for french, she said yes tt's why i came". The gal was rude and insisted no.Then she took the reservation bk and went to ask all her colleagues loudly who took my reservation (in front of all other customers, and they were all looking at us). No one admit. So I presume it was taken by a ghost. She even ridiculously ask me if i could recog the gal's voice(they got like 10 ppl working there k). I mean i could let the matter rest, if they just apologize for their mistake.Instead, she made it sound like i was there out to cheat them! She keep saying, oh 29 dollars is very cheap for classic, why dun u just do it. i was like, hello, for 30 bucks i could get better ambience and service in plenty of other places! I asked to talk to the mgr, the mgr ignore us and just cont doing her own stuff. Imagine!
Then i told them, ok then we dun want to do already and leave coz i feel cheated by their advertisment and the gal who took my ph reservation. They only cut 5 of our nails by then. The gal said, like that u have to pay 1/2 price. Me n my fren were mad angry .. no choice, so we decided to just let them finish it. The wendy gal did a shabby job on my fren's nails and keep criticising my fren's nails.
The final straw came when we are done. The gal told us actually they applied a coat of express dry on our nails, usually it cost extra 2 bucks but they are waiving off for us. I was flabbergasted. what crap? 1st time i ever heard that u pay extra for express dry coat! This place is out to cheat man. If you do a quick caln, if i had the salt +pedi+express dry = 10+29+2 =41 dollars. That is more expensive than alot of other places that usually charge 35 dollars all in. Not to mention the lousy service, lousy setup and environment and the misleading advertisement.
I will nvr step into another Nail Palace again ...
