happened to walk past nail palace, the branch at tanjong pagar last saturday. they were one of the few shops that opened at 12pm. so i asked, "how much for full set (both mani & pedi)?" then they told me $64! i was thinking so ex man... so they said $50 for first-timer. i did, then they started pushing the package. $640 for 13 sessions, which i thought was still expensive. some more the first few colours i asked for were out of stock! but their services were not bad... just that it's too expensive...

i have been to nail palace at jurong point. That's was like 3months ago. I have to say the service is so-so but their pushiness is getting on my nerves. They keep asking and asking me to sign up! but heloo... their service is only so so...

btw, that's was the first time and last time i went to nail palace. i didn't know that to add a layer of top coat need another 2dollars on top of the original 26 bucks....

If i know, i'll just walk furthur down a bit to citibella.. i like there better.. and service not so pushy..

Did a pedi at Nail Palace a long time ago. The girl cut my cuticles too deep and I bled, she didnt even say sorry. After that she even tried to push me to buy a package.

U've got to me kidding me. Im not going back again even if THEY PAY ME. Lousiest nail salon EVER.

maybe it's a fast dry top coat that's why extra charge?

After i told my friend about my LOUSY experience @ AMK Hub's Nail Palace, my friend replied.. " haven't you heard about their horror stories? ". That was when i came onto cozy cot only to realise there is not just a couple but a whole chain of them. This was mine...

    ************

I popped by AMK Hub's Nail Palace and i told the person i want to do express french manicure and full pedicure. As soon as i sat down, i asked about their pricing and the lady told me pedicure $38, manicure $15. I already felt that it is steeper then elsewhere.

there was 2 ladies attending to me, one doing my hands and the other doing my feet. They were both trying very hard to hard sell. Even when i specifically told them i want nothing else except for a express french mani and a full pedi, they NEVER stop.

they first started by asking me.. " you sure you don't want to do the full manicure? your cuticles are very dry "

    me: " no, i don't want "

    lady1: " why not? "

    me: " i just don't want "

lady1: " you should do.. blah blah blah "

me: " no, its really ok, i don't want to do "

and they have endless charges.. endless things which they can make u agree to ADD ON.

lady2: " would you like to add a ball to disinfect the water which is good for blah blah blah "

    me: " no. "

lady2: " it is really good for blah blah blah "

    me: " no "

lady2: " you have a lot of dead skin on your feet... do you want to do our treatment? "

    me: " no "

lady2: " you should do you know? you have a lot of dead skin on your feet "

    me: " i don't want, thank you "

    lady2: " why? "

me: " I just don't want to do.. and actually i do my pedicure quite regularly so its ok "

lady2: " oh.. den how do u usually do ur pedicure? how do the other manicurist do it for you? "

me: " the usual.. full pedicure "

lady2: " is this your first time here? you know you should try our treatment. we have exclusive distribution rights to the treatment, you cannot find it elsewhere "

Thought to self: seriously, if a treatment is good, or even if its not good but if its something i want, i seriously will not care whether i can find it elsewhere or not

THEN! lady1 repeats the process! They seem to just go on and on and on like a broken record and refuses to give me any peace! They will even go on to ask whether its my first time here, where do i stay, how far do i stay, even when i told them the area they probe further to ask me where do i stay SPECIFICALLY! need or not??

and when i got a little annoyed and obviously i was NOT INTERESTED in anything else.. they went.. " no you never try us before so you should listen to what you have "

    so i told them, " i don't want anything else, i also don't want to listen "

and they went.. " u don't listen you duno what we have "

OMG. they just don't get it!!! I am, actually tired after a hard day's work and i don't need this!!

even towards the end, they tried to make me pay for quick dry.

also, their french is bad. the lines are like super thin AND uneven. Lousy work!

then then then! when the bill came, i was shocked! there it wrote:

    Express manicure: $15
    Full pedicure: $38
    French: $12

    Total: $65!!!

i thought they made a mistake so i tried to clarify. I GENUINELY felt that there must be a mistake. I mean come on, i am a big time regular at doing nails, i KNOW the rates. French is a standard additional $5 ONLY. This is applicable be it if its cyndi's (koolnails), parkway, orchard or marina square. it is pretty standard. I've never heard of places charging $12!!! That is more den double of standard rates.

OF COURSE I REFUSED TO PAY.

They tried to push it onto me by showing me the price chart, i refused to barge. If i didn't ask before accepting the service, maybe it is my fault but i actually asked and i asked after specifying what service i wanted to do. If it was a reasonably acceptable pricing, i probably would just pay for it but $12 is too much!

They went to speak to their 'boss' and came back saying they will just charge me $10 for the french. Seriously, did they really think i'd be happy to pay with just that $2 off? What the hell are they thinking of? And $20 for a french express is already considered EXPENSIVE! Let alone $$25? That is like equivalent to a full manicure elsewhere? I WHERE LOOK LIKE CARROT?

seriously with their kind of pricing, i THINK (in case got lawsuit coming.. although what i say is nothing but the truth), i cannot understand why that place still has customers. What are their customers thinking of? i THINK, these customers either are not aware or they just have money to burn.

so they went back to their boss and came back to say they will charge me $5 for the french.

so let's do the maths again:

    full pedicure ($38 ) + express manicure ($15) + french ($5) = $58 correct?

LUCKILY I CHECKED. on the nets machine, it says $600.90.

fwah! i THINK, it simply reminds me of daylight robbery.

of coz, we pointed out to them and she rekeyed and she keyed.. $60.90... WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY STILL WRONG!

u say, if i THINK, this shop's prices is like kill people set fire, correct or not?

i will never come back here again. i THINK, the service sucks.
