Yellowing nails

hi all, any ideas how to get rid of yellowing nails? i noticed my nails on my thumbs and big toes going yellow. what to do to get rid of them?

Hi nutty I think you should go and get those whitening nail treatment . I have seen whitening powder kind think its Orly brand dont know if its good.Can check whether anyone has use it before. By the way always put base coat before painting you nail to prevent it from becoming yellow.

my nails r so yellow.....cos i wear dark nail colours quite often.

my solution to yellow nails problem: never leave home without nail polish! cover those icky yellow nails! i feel naked without nail polish.........sad right.....sigh.....

i dont usually apply dark colours cos i make a huge mess. but i do apply a base coat. i noticed if i were to use just a nail strengthener, my nails get yellow too! this orly brand, where can i get them?

hmm.. i tried the orly one before.. but its really pretty expensive. and it depends on your nails as well, you cant use it too often and how fast yr nails becomes white also varies from person to person.

i bought the buffing rectangle sponge from bodyshop..... i do not know what is it called.... it has 4 steps 1,2,3.4............. the yellowish stain can be removed by polishing away the surface of your nails.

thanks dukie. i actually do use base coat - 1 layer & i also have the face shop's nail nutrition coat. ddint realise it would help with yellow nails...silly me had been using it like cuticle oil!!

thanks for the rec. but when i went for manicure, the manicurist mentioned that i had too thin nails so i shouldnt be doing too much buffing or mani/pedi cures.

Hi, a tip to consider, try to get base coat & top coat which has non-yellowing protection. It helps. Cheers.

I have these yellowish stains on my toes... Even applying base coat does not seem to help.
Have resort to buffing... Viola! Haha~ Just take care not to overbuff. Don't recommend to those with weak nails though since buffing will 'weaken' your nail plate.

read reviews on base coat and tried the Face shop one.. find it not bad and cheap. but if u want base coat for yellowing nails, im trying the Sally Hansen base coat for yellowing nails.
