Oh... mine do pedicure for me instead!Originally posted by Queenie
Vonnie..mine wouldn't let me paint his nail too except using the OPI Matt Nail Envy.Buuutt you should try to do a pedicure for him. Mine felt in love with it.
Kept asking me when I'm gonna do it again.
I always have callous forming at the base of my feet. So I bought the corn plate and my hubby will help me debride whenever I feel that the callous is getting too thick and painful
As for hubby, he will do the debriding of the thickened skin at his heels himself :booty: ....

That's so sweet of him!!![]()
i recently did DIY manicure on my toes and nails. quite a gd job i believed. i used scotch tape to paste on the tip and painted the tip white. the line is quite straight. later on, i used cotton bud to correct the line that is not straight. more cost saving this way, i guess![]()
Should I get Swedish nude, Alpine snow or just any random drugstore white nail polish for french manicure tips?Any suggestions?

u can try the Canmake one in white. just one coat & it's opaque enough![]()
Sally Hansen has a french manicure set, consisting of white and nude polish-es. There's also a plastic included to guide you when polishing the top part of your nail.
Not sure if they still have these in Watson's though. Saw them some time ago.
HTH!![]()
have tried the sally hansen set a few times and must say the results are ok. but i have a habit of peeling the sticker off too fast, before the white tips are dry. the other problem i encountered is the nail tips being too light a coat. so i have to touch up after i peel off the stickers.
then i saw a booklet at the shideido counter, which shows you the technique on painting the white tips. starting on the left side of the tip, paint a line at an angle, repeat on the right side, and finish up with a straight line across to join the two angled lines.
i hope i am describing this ok
this method works a lot better, as it is so hard to get the sides.
I do my own french mani, and I find that practice DO make perfect! Cos I practiced many many times b4 I got it nice. Can always practice with cheaper polish... I used the brand "Rainbow" cos anyway, if the nails turned yellow, it's only the tip, so I'll just cut it off! Hahaha! Basically, I have to dilute the white polish more than normal, and apply the white tip twice... cos like that easier to "aim"
But then, I still cant perfect my toenails, so for french pedi, I used piggy's method: scotch tape... hahaha...but then, have to peel the sctoch tape off before the white totally dries, if not, it will pull the paint off with it!
Angel and Jccl, those are useful tips! Thanks for those! Will come in handy when I take my first shot at my DIY French mani. I so admire my manicurist, the way she paints those perfectly symmetrical, smooth white tips with just one steady swipe!![]()
I saw this Anna Sui sa with very neat french manicure and I asked if she did it herself. She said she did it herself with the help of this particular correction pen. The result is very neat and the pen costs around $7 or $9. Its sold at this nail service counter at Isetan Wisma/Orchard B1. One thing bad is that u can only do it with white tips.
what are the rates like for french man at hollywood secrets? are the results okay?
hee . . i tried sally hansen's french manicure b4.Originally posted by mango
Sally Hansen has french manicure sets that includes the tapes. Stick the tape horizontally accross your nails, with the edge of tape ending at the line you would like to have it white. Apply 2 layers of opaque white nail polish at the tip ('cut off' by the tape). Let dry, then remove tape. This gives you the white nail tips. Paint it all over (inclusive of the white tips) with few coats of clear polish- voila- Basic French manicure! I DIY-ed this before with sally hansen sets long time ago and the results are pretty good.![]()
mayb i'm not gd with my hands, i find it a bit difficult to apply. .![]()
