i tried applying strengthener n it works !
just a precaution, remember to trim your big toenails when wearing heels, because I didn't and I went clubbing, the next day both my big toes hurt like hell, and there is a blue black under both nails. Over the next few months, the toenails can be pulled out and underneath there are new nails, although my new nails aren't fully grown and they look really weird. It's a painful experience for the first few weeks of the bruising! I have learnt my lesson..
what should i do with weak nails? my nails both on fingers and toes are brittle. they cant be bend easily and they split into layers! and my big toe nail recently spiltted till half of it almost came out and was left dangling so i had to cut it off to prevent it from further damage esp if it gets "pulled" out and away by stuffs. that would bleed like hell !
should i apply strengthener? or is it because i lack of vitamins such as calcium ?![]()
aurora girl,
where can i find Dr G anti fungal treatment? cause i went to see the doctor and the stuff she gave me did not improve my nail conditon.![]()
nails are not strengthened by calcium, they are not BONES. but harden proteins (keratins)..like hair, nails need alot of oil and moisture, that's why i have been nagging cotters to apply cuticle oil
strengtheners will help your nails..but can I ask whether do you work in places where you need to come into contact with chemicals? even things like touching and folding paper/ cheques, etc also considered.
plus, do u often wash and dry your hands/feet? and u use soap/ detergent to wash hands often and don't follow up with mositurisers?
split nail layers or brittle are very much like split ends on hair or fine thin hair that breaks easily...(sometimes, it's genetics, but most times, is your lifestyle)
Can someone help with this?
Is the white spots on my toe nail due to leuconychia or fungus?
Just removed my nail polish awhile ago and was shocked to see the whitish spots on it!
![]()
science term for white spots on nails is known as leukonychia.
it may be caused by sudden illness (sometimes even high fever may cause white spots for some people), hard knocks and dryness.
don't worry, yours is not fungus. if it's cause by dryness, apply cuticle to prevent more white spots and a strengthener to prevent your nails from peeling.
not to worry as it is extremely common nail condition. leuconychia can come and go quite quickly as they may appear to fade or just grow out.
causes: mild damage to the matrix / Air bubbles form between nail layers due to knock or blow / Dietary deficiency ( i.e zinc or calcium, extreme cause ) / Nail biting ( friction )
the solution to treat leuconychia is to go for buffing and gentle manicure. the white spots will go away, don't think too much![]()
my nails are peeling in layers, and was told it's due to weakened nails.
which brand of strengthener is good?
sally hansen!
