You have to take precautionary measures such as using good base coats and also good polishes. Brands that are not know for their polishes tend to stain nail plates if left on nails for too long a period (esp dark colors)
It's simlpy rotating the bottle slowly.,like you rotate a testube.,
There are several factors that contributes to ridges on nails. If it's only on random nails, then maybe it's due to wear & tear... If it's on all nails, then probably due to factors from the body.
Some factors include:
- inherited (maybe u can see if your mom or dad, grandparents has the same ridges?)
- health (it's not really proven what deficiency causes ridges, but can try out protein, vitamin C & B12)
- age (i dun think you are old, but as we all age, our nails structure will start to change too.)
- accidents/trauma (if u happen to slam your nails on a door or drawer, or have a persistent habit of biting your nail, then it will cause a dent or ridges as the nail starts to grow)
- growth hinderance (especially for toenails, tight fitting shoes can push back growing nails, causing them to create 'waves' as they try to grow normally)

Good tip voltarE!
Here are some good tips too to help prolong the life of your favorite nail polish!
- keep unused or new bottles of nail polish in the chiller compartment in the fridge
- wipe mouth of bottle clean after use - this ensures the at the cap will not be stuck for your next use and also prevents air from entering
- buy reputable nail polish brands! These are usually of a great consistency and cares more for your nails. R&D are being put into developing the formula so bet they can last longer in the bottle than other brands!
- use a good polish thinner. Cheap thinner can change the color of the polish and also dries up very fast, causing the need to put more thinner during every use!

Good one evelyn0dancer!
Base coat is applied to protect your natural nail from the nail polish. What causes the stain is the pigment in the polish. The darker/redder the polish, the more pigment it has - so you will find that your nails turn yellow faster when you use dark colors rather than light colors.
However, this base coat layer starts to meltdown as days goes by, so by end of the 5th day of manicure, the polish layer will probably already be in contact with your natural nail!
What to do???
Simple, you can remove and reapply the polish if that is your favorite color. If you cant do a good polish job, drop by to your favorite salon to get a quick polish change. They should not charge you more than $5 for a mani polish change. If they do not provide that service, you can then can be sure that that salon is more focused on bigger $$$ like packages & full services!
If your nails are already yellow, dun fret, you can try the following:
- light buffing of surface (for not so serious cases) - DO NOT buff too often or too hard! Your nails will turn thinner with each buffing.
- use a nail whitener - different brands has different results. Just try.
- Let your nails to 'rest' - switch to a lighter shade or keep them 'naked' for a couple of days in between polishes!
- wait for them to grow - continue with the above recommendations and your new nails will grow out non-yellow pretty soon. Usually will take 6mths for fingernails, and 8mths for toenails.

My nail drill package got lost in the subway couple days ago, which made me crazy for i have been out of doing nail care for almost a week! So i went to google and amazon to find some nail drill package for alternative. I found that there are some nail drills offered currently.
Some are very large in size but seem with old style but some just as small as a pen like the 6bit pen shape electric nail art file drill tool on Amazon offered by USpicy: the USpicy Electric Pen-Shape Nail Drill with 1 AC adapter and 6 pcs Bit Acrylic UV GEL, which is a pen shape electric nail drill with many good reviews. As a nail art lover but for personal home use, which style would you recommend for a best nail drill?
