I'm into LV, timeless and lasting as what the others said. =)
Though I'm only 21, I don't find LV looks old on me

I love both Gucci & LV.

However if given a choice, I guess I will invest in LV because it is classic & LV never have sales. Hence, you won't feel so 'heart pain' if you find the Gucci items you bought being slashed 50% or more in Gucci sales.

I LOVE LV, classic and timeless i have LV bags that i bought 10 years back and they are still IN. Their luggages are the best! I don't mind Gucci, depending on their designs coz they will go out of style real quick. Good thing about Gucci is that they have seasonal sale, i love a good bargain! I will carry my Gucci once or twice, somehow i get tired of them, so off to cold storage. for my LVs, i will go back to them regardless.

I love both Gucci and LV just as much! But i have more gucci stuff than LV because Gucci stuff is more "affordable" than LV especially during their sale in july and december.

diorgirl, thought you will prefer Dior better than LV and Gucci??

hehe...okie, back to your question, i think LV's wallet designs are not very practical, for example, some doesn't come with any coin compartments. So i guess that should one factor you take into consideration.

Maybe you can share with us, which kind of wallets are you looking for? Those man wallet kind, or something like a purse kind? I think this "PORTE MONNAIE ACCORDEON" is new, and looks good. But of course there are no slots for your cards, so you gotta "stack" them. Hope you get what I mean.

i would suggest you go to both LV and Gucci and then decide from there. Hope you can get your dream one! But make your decision quick if you are getting the LV one, there will be a price increase after CNY. (Do see the LV thread).

I like this one because of its size.
but it doesn't have any slots for money notes.

so i'll stick to my braun buffel...

overall, i like both gucci and LV but I haven't own any authentic gucci yet.

Yes, the monogram vernis porte monnaine billets does hold notes. I have the exact same one in the same colour. However, note that vernis is very difficult to maintain. I will not buy a Vernis wallet againt, as usually the wallet get thrown in the bag with other items, like key pouch, cosmetic pouch etc, and colour from other items stained the vernis very easy.

Love vernis and the wallet but should have bought a monogram on hindsight.

you can try bringing down your vernis wallet to any of the LV stores and ask the staff to clean the stains for you.
Some stains can be clean off by using a special type of rubber, specially made from paris.
