well just for your info, there is no red sapphires.

If its a "red sapphire" its a RUBY...

the best blue sapphires or red rubies are from Myanmar or sri lanka which are obtainable from dealers in bangkok thailand.

Several shops such as:

House of Hung
Larry
Harry Winston? (ex ex ex)
La Ritchie

These shops have quality sapphires and rubies. I wouldnt recommend any other as they may be either heat treated or are low quality "thai , austrailia" sapphires/rubies.

regardless of where and how you get gemstones, you should get it verified by a qualified gemologist to know what you are actually buying.

Thailand is famous for treating sapphires and rubies with chemicals like beryllium to alter their colors.

Some people are ok with this kind of treatment and some are not.

Nan Yang Gemological Institute which is located @ Scotts road are reputable local gemologist to do grading and inspection as well as appraisals of your jewelery and loose stones and other minerals.

I have used them and thus I recommend them to anyone who wants to verify their jeweleries.
