If you do have $500 to buy a ring or pendant . Would you buy T&C silver or normal goldsmith shop white gold and diamond.
Looking at the value , shop like Goldheart , Lee Hwa jewellery is much cheaper compared to T&C
i will never spend $500 on silver. they tarnish. no point just because its T&Co. I dont believe in paying so much for silver stuffs. I rather pay for white gold bracelet and they still sparkle after years of usage.
I would buy white gold with the money. Silver tarnishes, unless you don't mind spending extra money on sending the item for chroming, or if you *really* love the T&Co design. One of my gfs actually got her jeweller to do a replica of the T&Co horseshoe design in white gold and diamonds and saved quite a bit (as compared to buying the exact T&Co design in diamonds).
but y so many people like T&C?
Why? hmmm
1-Peer Pressure (friends buy, i also want to buy)
2-Like the design
3-Like it because its branded stuffs- Tiffany & Co
4-Can afford/Lots of $?
5-Gift
6-Can 'flash' that its T&Co?
Individuals think differently. Just like why some settle for Kai, CherryQQ??, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Porsche etc? Swatch/Casio/Rolex/Hublot/ etc

cute999: it depends on yourself ultimately.. it is definitely more worthwhile to get from normal jewellery store! but if you like the tiffany & co design more, then by all means go for it!
for me, if i have $500, i think i will rather spend it at a local jewellery store on some white gold or something. but if my budget is like $300, then i rather spend it at tiffany & co. no idea why either! hahaha..![]()
I don't own a single T&C item, but I've been buying pieces from Goldsmith shops. Much better value and while T&C has really lovely classy designs, they're just way overpriced. Their gold and diamond jewellery is pricey as well. Not much bang for your buck imho.
i loved tiffany designs, however the sad truth is their prices are often overpriced. for good bargains, you guys should consider goldsmiths or even websites. most of them offer very good quality in diamonds and jewellery options.
Some examples are:
Blue Nile : www.bluenile.com (USA based jeweller)
Vivo Diamonds : www.vivodiamonds.com (Singapore based jeweller)
WhiteFlash: www.whiteflash.com
Goodoldgold: www.goodoldgold.com
Hope that helps
It really depends on personal preference ..
My mother and aunties always nag at me for buying T&C silver and Chanel necklace cause they are not worth money. They say must well go goldsmith shop buy something worth the money..
But people like me only go for nice and brand.. Whereas some go for value and nice..
Haha most important is in my conclusion don't go for something you don't like just because of the brand or it got value. Just buy something you like..
So my suggestion is go to T&C and also goldsmith shop and take a look.. Get something which caught you eyes![]()
Somewhat related - does anyone know where I can get an affordable white gold necklace (men's)?
I went to various stores eg Lee Hwa, Poh Heng, Goldheart... and the prices are about $1.3K before discounts of 30%, 40%... why is the white gold necklace for men so pricey? I remember paying less than $200 for my own white gold necklace a couple of years ago...![]()
Actually Tiffany's prices aren't that much more expensive. Yes, their silver prices are ridiculous. But their platinum pieces are actually cheaper than local jewellers such as Lee Hwa, Soo Kee etc. They quoted me about $3300 and above for plain platinum comfort rings which didn't have the weight. But Tiffany's platinum rings only cost $2500 and they're heavy.
For diamond pieces, for a certain range, Tiffany is actually more value-for-money. I've seen like 1carat going for like $18,000 in Tiffany but the specifications are at the lower end. Whereas, a 1 carat before discount in local jewellers is about $20,000. Given that after discounts, the local jewellers will be cheaper but given that can't beat Tiffany's for its quality even though the diamond might have lousier specifications.
Just look at the diamond below, it's a H colour and yet it's so white. Doubt a H diamond in local jewellers will be so white.

normally, i would go with real gold/white gold from a local jeweler and it typically costs less than a similar item from T&Co. However, T&Co does have cute pieces which are uniquely Tiffany, so for these one off pieces, i'm ok with paying premium for the brand once in a while.
But if we are comparing white gold vs silver, no question about it, i'll go for white gold.
Now, will i be happier if my engagement ring were from Tiffany? maybe yes, because i'd know hubby paid a premium for it, so maybe in his eyes i'm worth the extra $$![]()
oops, sorry, read it wrongly. Thanks for pointing it out. Sure makes one drool, doesn't it?![]()
im thinking if i should buy a tiffany toggle bracelet and start collecting tiffany charms. if it worth it? all silver nia....hmmmm.......
