hearts on fire cut is a patented cut, like lazare, gabrielle, etc. accordingly, they usually command a higher price tag compared to diamonds of the same specs (except for cut). if i recall correctly, i saw a pair of 0.5 solitaire earrings for about SGD10,000 about 2 years ago. price should have gone up. you can go to tianpo to take a look at the prices.
how are wholesale prices compared to getting it from boutiques (such as soo kee, lee hwa, tian po, etc etc)? what's the discount like?
wholesale prices are usually at least 20% cheaper than retail shops in singapore. So if you are thinking of buying a S$10,000 from retail shop like soo kee, lee hwa, larry, etc, you could possibly save $2,000 by buying them directly from wholesalers.
I personally think that wholesale prices are much much cheaper than 20% of the price. If you were to walk into Larry's, they can give you as much as 20% off their price tag straight away, but their markup is definitely more than 20% Wholesale prices are actually a bit below the rapaport.![]()
where can we get wholesale diamonds? are they trust worthy? i guess if we get diamond from wholesale, we have to get those with laser inscription? easier to certify that the cert matches the diamond?
I have bought some from a diamond cutter some time ago. So as not to spoil market, I think I should only tell you that the price was at least 10% below rapaport. Cool huh.... but I lost the number.... sigh...... thanks to my SO (Ps...maybe he doesn't want me to buy anymore)![]()
Yes Larry will give you 20% off when you walk in straight away. These are what all other jewelers are doing as well. Wholesale prices will be at least 20% below the "after discount" price that they quoted you.
For example a $12500 diamond, after 20% discount given by Larry, will be $10000, and the wholesale price will be about $8000.![]()
at first i also feel not worth it. but now after u mentioned, then worth it.
i saw one of the diamonds is with the arrows etc (8? or 16?), but not sure if there's any hearts...does this mean the diamond is better?
btw, wholesalers, how do they survive? who buys from them? like goldheart, lee hwa, larry etc? but sometimes those co like goldheart etc also has 50% or 60% off their diamonds n the quality is good too. (according to cert)

you mean hearts on fire.. by tian po??
I have the heart shape diamond necklace and the round one diamond necklace..
its very nice... its very X because the diamonds are cut by only 1 master.. if the diamond is handle by many pple.. it will not be that X.
i know this from one of the CS from TianPO..
agree the hearts on fire diamonds are beautiful but unless one has a huge or unlimited budget, personally i feel it is a huge premium to be paying for the name. not to say that the names count for nothing as brand names are often assurances of cut quality and probably the quality of the other aspects of a diamond. however i believe that one can find beautiful unbranded diamonds out there which perform as well as branded cuts under various tests devised to determine the performance of a diamond. takes a bit more effort definitely but the savings can be substantial.
hearts on fire diamonds manifest the hearts and arrows pattern. if i'm not wrong, you will be able to see the hearts and arrows pattern on most diamonds if you look under the H&A viewer. but the most valuable of these would be the ones where the hearts and the arrows are perfectly symmetrical and perfectly proportioned.
i believe wholesalers are those who supply diamonds to end retailers. i know of a few of them who sell directly to the end customer as well. in terms of discount, the percentage of discount a retailer can give will directly depend on how much the retailer has marked it up over its cost. while places like goldheart and lee hwa may advertise that they are giving 50% off on their diamonds, i'm sure the final price a consumer ends up paying would still be comparable to what the consumer would have paid if he/she had purchased from another retailer who doesn't mark up as much and therefore cannot offer such a high discount.
just my 2 cts on this.
HEHE...
i didnt pay for both.. infact the necklaces are my marriage gift from my mom..
=p
anyway i wouldnt get it from wholesaler..
I like pink diamond tho.. i seen it in perthmint.. very nice
lucky you! i won't pay for them, but definitely won't mind hearts on fire diamonds as gifts! =)
