i bought a blouse, very bare and need to get some accessory on. i'm thinking about long necklace but i am not sure if i should go for those with small size or big size attachments (ie crystals, stones, beads etc) on them. If i am of a medium to large size, should i get one with small attachments so that i dont make myself look much bigger? btw, I have short neck
Where can i find such accessory? wide range of selection? thanks
i think a longer necklace will suit you if you have a short neck.. one that extends to the mid bosom area. if the top is a v neck, i think a long necklace with a single pendant dangling from it will be good, since the necklace will also in this case constitute a v shape and follow the neckline of your top, so it's appealing to the eye. i personally think beads only look nice if your blouse is a scoop neck or has a rectangular neckline.. beads shouldn't be too small cos in that way it will have an opposite effect of making you look bigger.. i know this probably wouldn't help but go for the medium sized beads =) perhaps you will like to try brooches and badges/pins to perk up your outfit? a handful of small cute colourful pins can do wonders.. maybe you could line the neckline with beads or pins to fake an embellished top =) or perhaps a striking scarf loosely hanging from your neck?
The best way is to try them on while wearing the blouseSometimes, an accessory that you think may not suit you, may actually work very well with a particular outfit!
Try Diva for a wide range of dangling necklaces and other accessories.
yea thanks everyone for the replies.
i seen some girls discussed about DIVA........ errr but i think i never seem to find one before. I am not an accessories person..... so very lost touch
There are Diva outlets at Marina Square, Bugis Junction, IMM, and (I heard) Vivocity too.
HTH.
I tend to agree with cherrycola but I still doubt my own judgement call when it comes to accessorizingI see many over-long thin necklaces on models in promotion flyers these days, some as long as the dresses.. kinda distracting. I always thought that the accessory should alternate with the clothes: if it's low-neck, wear a choker or one that skims the collar bone. Then again, I've also seen people wear both long and short necklaces of contrasting thickness and textures with good results. I still prefer to keep it simple. I cannot see the beauty in an ensemble almost hidden under loads of necklaces and ear-rings and belts and such.
hehe are you talking about the vivocity tangs advertisements?Originally Posted by Glossie
i like to keep it simple too, if i wear a necklace i will skip the dangly earrings, and vice versa.. otherwise i'll look top heavy, and not unlike a christmas tree.
Glossie, good pointsI just bought a low necked spag-strap top and have been agonising over accessories.. I think I'll try it with some of my collarbone-length necklaces, instead of doing the Christmas-tree look with dangly stuff!
Oh ya! I remember the topping (your head) off with a star just like the way they decorate
trees! I wonder if people hang chandelier and duster ear-rings instead of the usual balls and ribbons
