Singapore Cancer Society:
Daffodil a is symbol of hope for people affected with cancer. Singapore Cancer Society has been organising Daffodil Day annually to continue and join in the force of creating greater awareness for this symbol of hope. Funds raised from the sales of Daffodil Day will go towards:
a. Financial assistance and welfare aid for poor and needy cancer patients
b. Hospice home care for terminally ill cancer patients
c. Rehabilitation services for cancer patients and survivors
d. Free cancer screening to members of the public
e. Talks and public forums to educate the public on cancer prevention.
This year, they're targetting at recruiting at least 1000 volunteers to walk-the-streets to sell Daffodil wristbands at a minimum donation of $3 to the public on 10 April 2005.
The intention that started the movement for the bands is good. I am glad that some of the charities had an opportunity to gain some funds in this way and to spread lots of awareness.
I just wonder what happens to all the bands when the fad is over.
I hope they are recycleable. It would be unfortunate if we are producing all these bands for good causes and then they end up on the big trashheap of time -- indistructable testiments of human fickleness and non-biodegradable evidence of the wastefulness of fashion trends.
Ah well.
Hi, =) does anyone know where to personalise wristbands? Preferably the one made of cloth, which is thicker, normally sold in Puma, Adidas, Nike kind. Hope you can share any ideas with me. =)
