I got my 1yr old D70 for $750, just the body only . The seller was telling me he paid almost double when it 1st came out. Lense I bought seperately. The D70s is almost the same as the D70, but it has a bigger LCD screen and some Technical diff, good for DSLR beginnners.

I think the D200 is much more expensive, but if you have the budget its a good buy too.

Digital SLRs like Nikon D50 and Canon 400D are great for beginners, and i know some professionals are using them too. No need to buy expensive cameras as u can't really see the difference with the human eye.

Nikon cameras--Colours more saturated, more contrast, pleasing to the eye.
Canon cameras--Colours more accurate, realistic, what u see is what u get.

Ok, I inherited some vintage (well, not really vintage, made in the late 70's, early 80's) cameras and Nikon lenses. But there's like mould growing in the lens. So what can I do about them? Get them serviced/cleaned? Any idea how much it'd cost me?

Haha...well both are good, both brands have lots of fans. Nikon more fans, but there r a lot of pros using canon too, the top of the class 16.7 MP 1Ds Mark II.

Yep, you need to have them cleaned. You can try out Don's Camera Workshop at Peninsula Plaza, his prices are ok. Prices wise, it depends on the extent of the mould. Best to bring it down for a quote.

    Hi gals,

I am thinking of getting Nikon D70s or D80. Which one should I get? And what the best price for the said cameras? TIA.

D80 is newer so probably should have better features and of cuz bigger price tag. I have not done research on both the cameras but I know a friend of mine just bought a brand new D80 from ebay and even with shipping charges in, its much more worth it than to get it locally. He got his D80 with two lenses, camera bag, two tripods and some filters for SGD$1.8k. He said local package is not as attractive. HTHs

Nixxy ~ Your friend must have make a big risk in trusting the ebay seller. Nevertheless, it a good deal.

The package is very different that's why he go for online buying. I think the seller is some shop owner also or something cuz he got it brand new, not second hand and another friend of mine is getting from the seller too. I will be too chicken to buy those expensive things online, worry about the shipping damages and problematic goods, but from what he told me, it's tempting for me even. Local shops only offer him the body with one lense and some don't even give the camera bag for free.
