This links tells a lot about PCOS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycys...of_infertility

Just saw in another thread u got PCOS. Are u TTC-ing too? PCOS doesnt necessarily means u cant conceive, u just need extra help n effort to get preggie. You have irregular menses i believe? One thing to do is to regulate the menses first i think. Dont worry too much k?

I had been diagnosed with PCOS last month.
After running through a lot of self help forum, I had decided to stick to a Low-GI Diet, seems to be helpful.
I will observe to see how for the next 3 months, most probably I will go and see a chinese sinseh for treatment.

Yes, my gynae need to run a blood test to confirm that its PCOS.
Firstly I hav very irregular menses, secondly the blood test reflect hormone imbalance. (and the vaginal scan, which shows the cyst at the ovaries)

Don't know what to do next, but now, will be adjusting my lifestyle and take more care in food selection.

I am kind of worried that this may affect fertility and pose a problem if I want to have a child after marriage.

I know someone who was initially diagnosed with pcos, then doc gave her BCP to regulate her menses. She was 'normal' until her 26-27 years old, then her periods stopped coming.

In fact she used to be very fertile, always have accidental pregnancies (i heard 4-6 times from another friend). I'm not sure if it's due to that multiple abortions that she stopped having periods. (yes it's shocking she let it happen so many times)

Anyway now she is on bcp still. The doc ran some blood test to test for hormonal imbalance and the 2nd opinion was that she didnt have PCOS, but it was due to pituitary hormone problem. In vaginal scan it looked like her ovaries were very congested with follicles, so she needed to take bcp to clear the congestion. It's a mystery. My own opinion is that it's probably psychosomatic, i.e her mental and emotional state caused her body to react that way, to prevent her from conceiving so easily.

I believe as long as you can ovulate you can conceive, with PCOS you just have to take somemedication to induce the ovulation to happen properly. Be positive, you'll be OK. I thought i had serious endometriosis problem, and it got worse (pain, increased menses bleeding) in the past 3 years but i got preggers accidentally.

    hi ,

I am diagnosed with PCOS through scan from my gynae 12 years ago! Now that i am 30 years old and previously i took the Diane-35 to regulate my menses.

However i stopped taking diane-35 because it is causing my veins to "clog" at my thigh causing the ugly spider veins...also, after taking the diane-35 on and off for nearly 10 years, i think i should stop because too much of the drug is not good for me...

anyway, now i am seeing TCM to help me to regulate my menses and hopefully that i can be pregnant soon...now still trying for baby....

I think the diet also play an important role for PCOS because sometimes if i eat too much of a food, i will get spottings...not sure if you are having such problems?:

    Hi

You mean you have been taking diane-35 for 10years?

My gynae was also considering to put me on yasmin also BCP, but then due to the fact that i have heart problem, she was worried that it may not be too suitable, as yasmin increase blood pressure also. Will need to wait for my cardiologist to say ok before proceeding.

But if I opt for this option, I know that I will need to take BCP in order to have menses. Is this true also for you?

i know this isnt directly my condition but i have endometriosis (which is hormone related too) and when i eat a lot of estrogenic food i get spotting. Like when i hiao and tried the boobie enlargement pills, it caused bleeding so scary! My period became much worse, so regretful and i thought i ruined by system. When i warn those at the thread on dangers of 'natural'herbal pills for enlarging boobs , no one seems to listed. Oh well...

pituitary hormone is secreted from that gland, located near the base of the brain. It is like the 'headquarters'of hormones.
