I got my first Gardasil vaccination in June. A total of 3 dose is required. Some clinics charge from $170 onwards for each dose.

Actually i encourage those who are willing to spend to get it as soon as possible. I have been thinking it for the past nearly 2 yrs but keep hesitating because of the cost. But recently, someone in the family got cervix cancer and it really wakes me up.

Currently, there are 2 vaccination in the market. Cevarix and Gardasil. The Gardasil vaccine protects against 4 types of HPV.

For Gardaisil, it's 3 jabs. if i'm not wrong all 3 mths apart. The jab hurts a little, as it's jabbed into your muscle. My injection site was my left arm, it felt really sore for abt 1-2 days after the jab.

    Hi cotters

My best friend's mom has been diagnosed with cervical cancer yesterday, and she's feeling very upset and helpless now =\

    Is Gardasil really work?

Any idea where to get this vaccination, and the cost?

    hi

i took the vaccine last year at my company clinic..
so far no side effect happen to me
just that the vaccine quite painful and my arm feel quite sore..
and it subside after 1 to 2 days..

Gardasil is given in three injections over six months, the second injection is two months after the first, the third injection is four months after the second shot is administered
and it is only valid for girls between the age of 9 - 26..

i think any clinic will have this vaccine.. can ask them when you bypass any clinic
btw, i read from internet that Gardasil seems more effective than Cevarix

    bellalingg,

most GPs have this vaccination. Paid for seperately for every vaccine you took for each visit. The cost varies from $180 - $200+, depends where you go. I paid $186 for each vaccine.

Gynae or specialists may cost more compared to selected GPs and polyclinic.

Jess $186 per vaccine is not expensive compared to what other cotters said ($700-$ 800) said. Thats' so awesome! Where you had it?

Anyway, if I were to take this vaccine, I can't get pregnant within 1-2 years, right?
If thats the case, can I take the vaccine after I give birth?

I had it in one of the clinic located in sims drive. You can call up your regular doctor and check with them the price. Some doctors charge additional consultation, so pls ask.

It is advisable that if you know that you are pregnant, then don't go for the vaccine. It is not dangerous, just that no enough evidence to show that whether is it good or not for the child. Or if you got the 1st jab, and realise you are pregnant then stop the rest of the vaccination. But if you complete the series of 3 doese, and got pregnant, then it should be fine.

Kindly visit a regular doctor of yours to know more.

    mifster,

It not 100% against cervical cancer. Nothing is 100%. It can only minimise the risk of cervical cancer. Pap smear test is still recommended every 3 years after you are vaccinated.
