    Default Eye Specialist - Recommendations?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has been to an eye specialist and can give any recommendations about their experience. My mom is looking for an eye specialist and I was thinking of asking her to go to the national eye centre but I'm not sure how long the waiting time to get an appointment might be. So I was hoping if anyone could be kind enough to point me in the right direction of an eye specialist if they've had a positive experience with one.

    Thanks in advance!

I think go to polyclinic first then ask them to write referral letter to singapore eye centre, that will cut down the waiting time. HTHs.

I would recommend the eye specialist at Gleneagles Hospital. But, Im sorry I couldn't remember the doctor's name as it was years ago. And no offense, but I have a really bad experience going to polyclinic before. I had a problem with my left eye, it started to feel itch at first and turned very red color. So, I went for checking at Polyclinic as I did not think it was serious. The doctor there did not even check my eye properly (seriously, only talk face to face) and just prescribed eye cream for me, and he refused to give me MC for 1 day! I was studying back then and it's very hard to read with that kind of eye condition, gosh!

After I used the eye cream once, the next morning my eye was swollen till I couldn't open it!! I was so scared and shocked, so I just called Gleneagles and told them it was emergency. I met the doctor there and he told me they need to perform minor surgery. My eye was okay in 1 week, but certainly feel much better after few days.

unless your mum is senior citizen, else the waiting time is same as per norm.
polyclinic schedule to SNEC is about 1-2mths. at SNEC, you wont get to be treated immediately.
also depends on what treatment you seeking for.
eg. cataract. even you're proven to have cataract, you wont be able to book your op date on 1st visit. you have to go back another 1-2 times to seek further confirmation before you're able to book a date. that would be another 1-2mths.
to book a op date is another 1-2mths.
    so it's about 3-5mths.

however, if you go SNEC for senior consultant, it would be different and faster. of cos charges is higher. similar to specialist clinic.

Are you referring to Dr Lee Hung Ming at Gleneagles - Parkway Eye Center? He is really good and experienced.

When my grandma went to the polyclinic to check on her eye cateract, they referred her to TTSH's Eye Clinic. If you dont wish to Q at polyclinic, prob can try making an appointment directly at TTSH's Eye Clinic? my 2c

Had very bad eye infection and GP's medication did not work for me. Eyes became swollen in 2 days and 2nd night could not sleep, cos my eyeballs were in pain. Went to Katong Specialist Eye Centre and swell went down in a day.

You can try NUH eye clinic. I was there for few treatments due to B&L contact lens solution (nearly blinded me ) in my late teens.

    Bumping this thread up.

Any recommendations for doctors specialising in cataracts? My mum has a special condition and would like to seek second opinion.

    Thanks in advance girls.
