No problem (: Just contributing back what I got frm this forum. From what I hear abt LA, u will only feel the pain from the injection of the anesthetic and thereafter it will only be the (painless) feeling of the tugging to remove yr wisdom tooths. Yr surgeon will most like have to make a small insertion to remove yr peeking wisdom tooth. So basically, u will be aware of yr surroundings but not feel anything while the Dentist does his magic. Yr healing time should most likely be faster than those under GA. Don't think too much and just go for it!
just like to share my experience with Wisdom teeth removal...sorry that its a long grandmother story...
my case was quite bad, out of 4 wisdom teeth, 3 of them required surgery and only 1 was simple extraction. what makes this worse is that i already had 4 teeth removed for braces, so when i discovered i had 4 wisdom teeth...u could say i wasn't very happy -_-"
actually went to NDC in august 2010 first cos initially the molar at the back of my left lower jaw really hurt, but i postponed the surgery due to the fact that it had stopped hurting gradually and i was due to start a new job.
it was a stupid idea. fast forward to december 2010 my left lower jaw started hurting again and turns out i had infection -_-" so called NDC immediately only to be told that the dentists were fully booked until 22 feb!
decided to take a risk and go to IOSC. i emailed the enquiry email on friday after countdown(yes, i know, very no-life but it really hurt then) to see how early i could schedule my appointment to see her and to my surprise Dr Juliet Tay, the clinical director, emailed me back on saturday morning itself! scheduled emergency consultation on monday at 0845hrs, fixed my surgery for today at 1130hrs.
surgery went well. being a wuss in general, i opted for iv sedation which was amazing. had to be calmed down even just for inserting the iv plug(the needle that goes into the hand) and had the anaesthetist inject some local anaesthesia at my hand before the insertion.after that, all i remember was saying "oh, this doesn't really seem like its working..." and next thing i know, i wake up and the op is over.
still bleeding like nuts, but i recall the same situation happening when i extracted the 4 for my braces.
highly recommend Dr Juliet Tay, she's not only professional but highly efficient. my complicated case got finished in less than an hour!
however, do take note. she's a dentist under private practice so be prepared to shell out big buckstotal cost for me ran over $3k including the anaesthesia. thank goodness she cleverly helped to 'cut' the bills into two so that medisave could be used for the whole bill.
going back to see her next monday, hope everything turns out fine...![]()
I had the bottom right wisdom tooth pulled about three weeks ago. I've been fighting a dry socket ever since then. It went away after the first week, but came back at the end of the second week and has been painfully with me ever since.
The oral surgeon keeps packing it with this medicated stuff, but it doesn't seem to get better like it did after the first week. It throbs real bad and causes a sharp pain in my ear.
I've been putting a heating pad on it, and it seems to ease the pain a little. That gets the blood flowing back in the socket and it's the loss of blood that causes the pain. The pain seems to worsen when I lay down as well.
I guess women are more prone then men, and bottom teeth are more prone then top. Also, if you are on birth control, you are twice as likely to get a dry socket.
All I can say is hang in there, I'm sure the pain will go away eventually.
URGENT!!! Any recommend for dentist who is good in wisdom teeth surgery, but yet won't burn a hole in my pocket. I've a feeling my wisdom teeth are going to give me problem soon, I need to do something before the pain comes.
My colleague recommended me to GPA, but she told me to extract one tooth, it cost above $1K, that's more expensive than Q&M's $900, which many people already comment their charges is on the high side. Btw, how many percent of our surgery bill can be deducted from medisave? Thanks.![]()
Anyone has recommendation for extraction of wisdom tooth for General Anaesthesia (GA)? I understood if its under govt (referral to NDC etc) will have to wait for a period of time for at least 2-3months for the ops to happen.
Any reasonably-priced private?
i think if it extraction, u need to do with G.A.
few months ago, one day i couldnt open my mouth. so i took some medicine. dentist said i need to remove. but i am afraid. its too far from my family and if something happen bad i will not know what to do. also i dont have medisave. so i went to my country. and removed upper 2 wisdom teetg. i had local anaesthesia. there was no extraction. but i prefer to remove my bottom right tooth in sg. so maybe 4,5 month later i will do it. at least i can get 5days mc. but if i need to do GA really really dont know. also dont know how much it will be cost.![]()

just had 2 wisdom teeth extracted today.went to dr bruce chew at mount e..mine was slightly complicated cos both teeth had to be operated on. i thought he had just removed one tooth and was bracing myself for the second drilling when he told me both were out. surprisingly painless and very fast. also got to keep the teeth as a souvenir.
