Orthodontists | Braces

i went to a total of 4 orthodontists for consultations! coz i'm damn worried about extractions - something in me rebels at the idea of extracting good teeth just like that. Basically three dentists told me that i had to extract 4, but one (Dr Lim Hong Meng) said that there's a 70% chance that no need to extract so can try non-extraction first. I brought this up to Dr Tan of Aline and he says that if I want I can also opt to do the non-extraction route and see if I like the result or not.

has anyone here did the same thing? ie, tried non-extraction first? How did it go?

Hello Jerrine. I am one who undergone braces (and it's not the traditional braces, but the Simpliclear braces!) without extraction. I have serious overcrowding problem. Everyone is simply amazed that I didn't have to do a single extraction. My orthodontist is Dr Kenneth Lew. Here's the website of his clinic: Tanglin Dental Surgeons

You may wish to seek him for consultation. I'm on my Simpliclear for about half a year already, and it's almost straightened! My whole treatment is likely to end near CNY.

I have done my extraction yesterday! Braces day is on the 19 :S
Process is relatively painless even after, so for those who just start out like me, have no fear

I have generally straight teeth on my upper front jaw , though with a protruding vampire tooth.

I was so sick of having food stuck in between and with the vampire tooth- hence decided to take the plunge to get braced.

Fortunately, i didn't have much of ulcers problem. But my 'bite power' of front jaws are still pretty weak after 2months+

Is that normal?

it's normal, usually the bones are "softer" to allow teeth to move.. so don't bite on hard food like apple etc.
