$199 is really cheap for teeth whitening for a dentist.. what kind of whitening is it?

I just learnt from my girlfren, who paid up for the laser whitening service, was brushed off with some DIY home kit becos the therapist didn't think her teeth could "undergo" the treatment. Firstly, the cost difference didn't make sense and secondly, my friend should NEVER settle for such unethical and unprofessional service. It is silly of my friend to let this go but let it be a lesson to her and others.
