    Hi Ladies,

I came across this site on Chinese Food Therapy . I think it's pretty informative and there are also recipes for the various aids, and also the knowledge of the various chinese herbs and it's use.

geez.. hi5! i love to eat ginger, garlic and onions.. hehee..

candeecake, you're so right, barley helps to relieve water retention and has whitening effect too.

    Do you know:

    * that when you rinse your rice or barley before cooking, the chalky water is best used to wash your face. It's cooling and leaves your face smooth and also got whitening effect too, tho' resuts may not be immediate, it takes time.

Ginseng Roots or American Ginseng. if i'm not wrong, ginseng roots are "cooling" and American Ginseng is "heaty". i just made it for my SO today usually, american ginseng (also known as Hua1 Qi2 Sheng1) are sold in small slices, you can request to taste a slice before purchasing, coz some could be fake. ginseng roots, you can get them in pre-pack package, think ard $2-3 per pack.

usually, i don't wash the dry crysanthemum. i just dump them in and boil awhile, then dump in the ginseng and sugar, boil for awhile to make sure sugar are dissolve. turn off the fire and let it brew awhile. hmm.. i nvr know boiling crysanthemum make it taste bitter.. nvr have problem. the remaining dry crysanthemum, put it in fridge.

yes.. almost forgot... wash the ginseng roots!! usually what i do is wash, then pour abit of hot water to rinse it. don't soak them in hot water for too long, else the "flavor" will be gone.

from what i understand, some of these are just plain roots or stem slices. if the shop doesn't allow tasting, then i would advice not to buy it from them. the ginseng taste wouldn't just dissolve in while. you'll taste ginseng when you suck on it. when it gets soft, chew it, still taste ginseng!! i didn't know i could sample it too, until a shop actaully ask me to take a slice and taste it. she told me some actually sell fake ones.

actually, these ginseng slices come in handy when you need an extra perk.. instead of taking coffee, put a slice in hot water to drink. pls don't consume too much in a day. coz one time, i actually drank 3 cups of ginseng in a day. by nite, my whole body is warm and tiring, my head hurted that i need to go to bed early. Yes yes..taste really good! I didn't know this is good for complexion and after menses.

For good complexion, you gals must try boiling this dessert! My fave and learn this when I was in HK

    1. Papayas (half ripe ones)
    2. White fungus
    3. Red dates
    4. Almonds (not your usual brown nut but the white coloured ones )
    5. Rock Sugar
    6. pandan leaves

I don't really know what goes in first but my school chef just said throw everything in and boil! This is very 'zi1 run4'. How to translate into english?
